Purple Cobras and Kings come to a deal...

Purple Cobras Get: QB Cutler, HB L.Tomlinson and HB R.Bush

Kings Get: QB Rivers and WR R. White

I have to say the Purple Cobras win this deal easily but this trade is strong evidence of how far LT's value has fallen in the eyes of fantasy owners. Tomlinson turns 30 this year and has many doubters but along with that he still boast top 10 if not 5 upside so it seems the P.Cobras may have gotten him on the cheap as well as they receive Reggie Bush to fill their flex spot moving Cedric Benson to the bench which is always a good thing.
P.Cobras old starting line up P.Cobras New Starting line up
QB Rivers QB Cutler
HB Forte HB Forte
HB Benson HB Tomlinson
HB/WR Edwards HB/WR R.Bush
WR White WR Edwards
WR Housh WR Housh
TE Winslow TE Winslow

This trade has made the Purple Cobras into serious contenders and erases their lack of depth at runningback. As for the Kings they took a step back but did gain a top 5 QB and can insert Kevin Smith as their runningback2 and R. White as their WR2 moving Marshall to the flex but I'd still rather have LT in hopes he regains top 5 form. This trade IMO has pushed the Purple Cobras in front of the Kings in talent and has not crushed but surely has diluted the King's championship aspirations as they have now lost two thirds of their runningback core giving both of them up cheaply too.

Adrian Peterson an Unbeaten Gator Again......

Well guys I landed the most talented player in all the NFL regardless of position once again to pair with Gore which should give me a runningback tandem that dominates for the next 4 to 5 years. The Kings received Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith, Reggie Bush, Lesean Mccoy, and Plaxico Burress.
I feel even stronger now that the team I have will not only walk to a fantasy championship but may very well challenge for an undefeated season. Now this is fantasy football and anything could happen so I could be eating crow come December but I feel my line up has the highest upside and should be favored week in and week out.

Panthers land big wideout Wayne

The Unbeaten Gators are working it on the trade market sending Reggie Wayne for Kevin Smith and Santonio Holmes.

The combo of Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne paired with a top QB in Peyton Manning gives the Panthers a more legit contender look while the Unbeaten Gators continue to build depth and landed a solid RB2 or flex player in Kevin Smith and another good flex option in Santonio Holmes who many believe will have a break out season if Roethlisberger can stay upright.

Consensus on this trade is it helps both teams giving the Unbeaten Gators a better chance of having one of his backs break out and be a complement to Gore while Reggie Wayne allows the Panthers' receiving core to be playoff caliber.

U. Gators trade Addai straight up for Stewart to Mountaineers

The Unbeaten Gators dealt the oft injured Addai for Jonathan Stewart the 2nd year veteran who he believes has top 5 potential if Deangelo goes down. J-Stew rushed for 846 yards and 10 touchdowns on 184 attempts while Addai ran for 544 yards and had a combined 7 touchdowns while missing 4 games in '08.

Addai will step into the starting role for the Mountaineers while Stewart will rest on the Gators bench for now.

The U.Gators are still very much in the trading market and may pull off a few more deals before the end of this summer.

Things quiet on the trade front so far...

With perennial trader Dylan Gibson saying he does not want to touch his team even though he has a glaring need at receiver especially if Marshall ends up suspended things have been quiet so far. Some trade talks have been going on but nothing has come of it so far but everyone is on the yahoo so if you want to send a trade thats there if you want something posted here on the blog like a team need or someone you are trying to get rid of let me know or if you need to know how to get in touch with someone to talk trade....so keep checking this site and yahoo for articles and updates

9 Questions Heading Into '09

1. Can the Carolina Falcons 3 peat?

The Carolina Falcons have won in both '07 and '08 getting past the previously unbeatable Gators in the playoffs including a colossal championship upset in '07. So the question is can they do it again in '09? They have a pretty good nucleus this year featuring Turner, Westbrook, Boldin, and Roy Williams but with 12 teams in the league this year including a rejuvenated Kings team and a Gator team working harder than ever to get back on top. It'll be a tough road for the Carolina Falcons and I say there is NO CHANCE they will 3 peat in '09.

2. Can the Ducks and W. Dogs retain their playoff magic in '09?

The Ducks and W. Dogs were two of the feel good stories of '08 with both making the playoffs for the first time in their franchises histories and the Ducks even making it to the title game. Will they find similar success this year, the Ducks seem like a safe bet to see back in the playoffs with a very balanced team and featuring a stout receiver core of Fitz and Smith. Mean while the W. Dogs have a gaping hole at receiver and quarterback and one of their top two runners is the injury prone SJAX she still has a good team but I say the W. Dogs will miss the playoffs in '09 while the Ducks will renew their playoff tickets.

3. Will the Unbeaten Gators return to the top in '09?

After winning it all in '05 and '06 the U.Gators have fallen just short in '07 and '08. With the two year championship drought the Gators hit the research harder than ever and have fielded a team he believes is undefeated caliber. While undefeated may be hard to do this team looks like the front runner in '09 and I say will return to fantasy glory.

4. Can the Instant Classics make the jump from good to elite?

For the seasons he's played in the GFFL he's never failed to make the playoffs even when faced with the Brady fiasco last year. Is this the year he goes from good to elite? While it's possible with some great in season management I don't see it happening while I think he will be a playoff team he will fall short of joining the elite this year unless Ochocinco returns to his old self and can lead an unexciting receiving corp.

5. Will the Kings end their 3 year playoff drought?

After not making the playoffs since the first year of the league the Kings should easily break the playoff barrier and for the first time in a while look like serious contenders. Using that old Gator approach of building a dominant 3 man backfield he should taste success.

6. 6 Best Bets to make the playoffs?

U.Gators, Kings, Ducks, I.Classics, Rayz, P.Cobras the shocker no Carolina Falcons this year. I believe the two time defending champ will miss out on the playoffs.

7. What newcomer looks primed to have the most success?

Purple Cobras look the best team wise, but I wouldn't count out Essick I think he'll bring a lot to the table as a GM of his team.

8. Who will be the worst team in '09?

No contest, the Rednex. This team may be hard pressed to score 70 points let alone a game. A lack of superstars or stars in general should make this team a doormat for the rest of the league this year. If he wants to get better he needs to start making some transactions quick.

9. '09 Championship Game?

U. Gators beat the Kings in one of the most hyped finals in GFFL history with the Kings stealing the old Gator way to get here the Gators will show him there's a reason he's moved on from that.

NEW Mock draft

With the draft being Thursday at 5 and some trading and a little turnover in the league here's how I see the 1st round going.

1. Kings - HB Adrian Peterson...no question see previous mock for reasoning on this one.
2. C.Falcons- Called this in the last mock draft that the C.Falcons would find some way to swing a trade to get Turner and indeed they did no doubt the 2nd pick in the GFFL Draft will be HB Michael Turner
3. Ducks- Pam seems to be wavering as of late over Deangelo or Forte I say after a lot of debate end result HB Deangelo Williams
4. P.Cobras- Have a feeling he may pull a shocker here with a Chris Johnson pick due to Chris' major upside and speed not to mention Dylan's infatuation with him..the pick
HB Chris Johnson
5. Kings- well this a no lose situation at the 5 spot the way this draft might go he's either staring at Forte or Jones-Drew.... HB Matt Forte is the pick
6. Josh Phillips- may go with a Brees or a Fitzgerald right here and pass on Jones-Drew which no one could blame him for but I see him sticking to conventional wisdom and going with HB Maurice Jones-Drew
7. Christian- with the league turnover and Dylan's trade Christian will now be very lucky to see Chris Johnson drop to here leaving him to either take injury plagued SJAX or Westbrook, even the once consensus number 1 pick LT has to come to mind....the pick though is WR Larry Fitzgerald.
8. W.Dogs - HB Westbrook no contest here as the 30 point games he can provide over shadow his injuries at this point.
9. W.Dogs - WR Steve Smith in a surprise pick I could see the W.Dogs taking home the prize possession of the GFFL in Steve Smith there is not a more fun guy to own.
10. Essick- HB Tomlinson this late would be a steal even at 30 he has the potential to climb back to being that number one guy which would make a lot of people before this 10th slot look very foolish for passing him up.
11. Rayz- This pick comes down to two backs with tremendous upside Portis and SJAX or the number one fantasy option last year at any position Drew Brees. I see Rayz going with HB Steven Jackson.
12. Panthers- Portis was the number one back for a good portion of '08 before going down with an injury and has plenty potential to do it again but I see Mike going with the number 1 fantasy player of '08 QB Drew Brees

13. Panthers- Should take either Portis Andre or Randy here to pair with Brees maybe even a huge upside guy like Slaton or Jacobs due to Slatons tremendous upside he's the pick HB Steve Slaton

Kings make another deal

Kings Get: 1st round (5th), get their 2nd rounder back and a 4th rounder from the C.Falcons
C.Falcons Get: 1st round (2)

So in essence the Carolina Falcons gave up a 4th rounder and 9th rounder, got a 5th rounder to move down from their original number 1 spot in the draft. So Brandon got bamboozled.
Here's the Breakdown

Carolina Falcons original draft (After Lottery) 1st (1), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th rounders

C.Falcons After 1st trade with Kings..1st (5th), 2 2nds, 3rd, 4th, 2 5ths, 6th,7th,8th, 2 9ths, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th.

C.Falcons now... 1st (2nd), 2nd, 3rd, no 4th, 2 5th's then same.

Not the best deal by the 2 time defending champs.

1st round mock draft

With draft day fast approaching I wanted to release my 1st round mock draft of the GFFL.
Notes the Hollywood Stars and Unbeaten Gators do not own a 1st round pick currently in '09.

1. Kings - HB A.Peterson no doubt will be number one as he is the main reason Dylan sold his draft so he could build his team around Peterson.
2. Kings - Seems to be going back and forth between Forte and Turner but if draft were today I think he'd go HB Forte
3. Ducks - Traded up to ensure getting Deangelo but with Turner's consensus top 1-3 overall ranking by most fantasy experts he may be too hard to pass up. The pick HB D.Williams
4. Purple Cobras - HB Turner drops no further.
5. Carolina Falcons - With Turner going to the Purple Cobras and the Falcons owning some extra picks I could see him swinging a trade for Turner, but if he stays here he takes his consolation prize of HB Jones-Drew
6. Princesses - The 6 pick could go a number of ways Fitzgerald, SJAX, Chris Johnson even Brees are all on the table but based on her taking of two receievers last year and Fitz's post season accolades I say the pick is WR Fitzgerald
7. Christian - Tough call between SJAX or Chris Johnson even Brees in the equation but I think the speedy CJ is the pick over injury prone SJAX. HB C.Johnson
8. Weiner Dogs - In love with the versatile Westbrook who can go off for 30+ points a game she'll take him no question hoping to ride him to the success she had last year. HB Westbrook
9. Weiner Dogs - With Fitzy gone in this mock it comes down to SJAX Brees LT or Andre Johnson with SJAX proven to be injury prone that may scare off Melissa into taking the QB who was number one overall in fantasy points QB D. Brees
10. Essick - first year fantasy player may be surprised to find that perennial top back LT has lasted this long and will jump on him hoping with no turf toe that he'll return to being the number one back. HB Tomlinson
11. Rayz - SJAX too great of upside to pass up all the way back here at 11 but Andre is supposed to explode this year with a healthy Schuab. I see T-Ray pulling the trigger on WR A. Johnson
12. Panthers - SJAX seems to be the pick here but with Steve Smith who is always a 1st round pick in the GFFL and Randy Moss, Brady, Slaton, and Jacobs with no Ward clouding the waters the decisions a bit complicated but I think SJAX's upside is too much to pass up here HB S.Jackson
