Instant Classics land PT

I.Classics Get: HB P.Thomas

C.Falcons Get: WR Boldin

A great trade for both sides, Brandon desperately needed a receiver and Christian got the best player in the deal here so its a win win. PT could explode this year in NO and gives Christian one of the best RB stables in the league with CJ SJAX and PT.

Matt Ryan dealt to the C.Falcons

Needing roster space to sign a kicker before the opener the U.Gators were gonna have to deal a player and decided on Matt Ryan. After being offered 4th round picks by multiple teams the U.Gators decided to trade him outside of the division and to his biggest fan in the Carolina Falcons. A solid trade by both sides Matt Ryan could be great in his 3rd year and the U.Gators would have had to eventually cut him so win-win.

UG Gets: 4th rounder

CF Gets: QB Matt Ryan

Copperheads Building for 2011?

Copperheads Get: F.Jones, Slaton, and a 1st

I.Classics Get: S.Jackson and Chambers

The Instant Classics get another stud back to line up with CJ so the trades a definite win for him. Looking at it from the Copperheads angle SJAX probably didn't give them enough fire power to be an upper tier team so getting another 1st round pick for 2011. The Copperheads now have 3 2011 first round picks and look to be in great shape to be a strong team next year. As for this year they'll probably live in the cellar of the West Division and should try to continue to assemble draft picks for a run in 2011.

GFFL SEASON PREDICTIONS (CENTRAL)

1. Instant Classics - QB Brady HB C.Johnson HB F.Jones HB/WR Jacobs WR Boldin WR Ochocinco TE Clark

The Central is gonna be a dog fight between the Classics and Ducks in 2010 but I give the Classics the nod due to Chris Johnson but it's gonna be close this could go either way. If CJ slips at all the Classics are in huge trouble this team revolves around one player and if CJ goes they go if CJ falters they falter. Even more so than in 2009 this is all about CJ. Boldin and Ocho are both WR2s, Brady is still top 10 but he's not what he used to be, Felix and Jacobs are in RBBC and look to be 2nd in those. Clark is a huge boost though as he can put up WR2 numbers from the tight end slot.

2. Ducks - QB Rodgers HB D.Williams HB Grant HB/WR M.Barber WR Fitzgerald WR Driver TE Shiancoe

A more complete team than the Instant Classics, but I worry about the lack of WR depth and Fitzgerald's numbers slipping due to Leinart. Rodgers is a flat out stud though and will keep the Ducks battling the Classics all year long. They could definitely use a trade for wide receiver help but I'm not sure they'll be able to get one done. If Fitz and DWILL stay healthy though this team will punch their ticket to the playoffs if one of them goes down it'll be a long season.

3. Heels - QB Favre HB McCoy HB Best HB/WR Forsett WR S.Smith (NYG) WR Sims-Walker TE Daniels

The Heels are actually a strong sleeper for this division they could definitely use a stud on this team but it is very complete and if the Ducks suffer an injury and CJ slips the Heels could possibly sneak into the GFFL playoffs. Their only route for a 2010 playoff appearance is winning the Central cause this team just isn't good to snag a wildcard spot.

4. Purple Cobras - QB Schaub HB Mendenhall HB Spiller HB/WR T.Jones WR S.Moss WR Berrian TE Winslow Jr.

Schaub and Mendenhall are studs but after that this is a little league team. If they could make a trade for a stud receiver they'd shoot in front of the Heels for me and could even contend with the Ducks and Classics. If I'm Jonny it's time to take advantage of this opportunity and do some shopping for the receiver to put them in the playoff picture.

GFFL SEASON PREDICTIONS (EAST)

EAST DIVISION

1. U.Gators - QB Romo HB R.Mathews HB Greene HB/WR Marshall WR A.Johnson WR Calv. Johnson TE Finley

This is the best team I've ever put together and with a strong starting line up coupled with the strongest bench ever seen in the GFFL (R.White Jennings Charles B.Wells) this year I should run away with the East and I'm thinking GFFL Bowl VI.

2. Rayz - QB McNabb HB R.Rice HB Gore HB/WR Aromashadu WR R.Moss WR Colston TE V.Davis

Defending East Division champions, they've put together a pretty good team lacking a great flex play and depth though they're hoping to ride Rice/Gore/R.Moss back to the GFFL Bowl. I say look for the Rayz to definitely clinch a wildcard spot and hold off the Panthers for 2nd place in the East.

3. Panthers - QB P.Manning HB Benson HB R.Williams HB/WR Wallace WR Wayne WR D.Jackson TE Cooley

The Ben Tate injury hurts as he was counting on him to be his HB3 but the Panthers are still strong at wide receiver and QB but Ricky Williams as his HB2 hurts and puts him behind the Rayz and in 3rd place in the East.

4. Vogler88 - QB Cutler HB Moreno HB Hightower HB/WR D.Bryant WR S.Rice WR Meachem TE ???

First year for Michael Vogler shouldn't be that bad but it's definitely a rebuilding year but 2011 watch out Vogler88 is loaded with draft picks and could go into the draft with Cutler Moreno S.Rice then 2 1sts 2 2nds and 2 3rds to build with. If he drafts well Vogler88 could make their first playoff appearance, but for 2010 unless they make some trades 4th place is where they'll be.

Cowboys-Bengals GFFL Effect

In the boring preseason month when I get a chance I'll throw together a little article showing what I learned from the game. Although it's dangerous reading too much into preseason you can learn a bit and I've got nothing else to do so why the heck not.

Terrell Owens, Kings and Chad Ochocinco, I.Classics - TO was targetted 4 times while Ocho was targetted only once. Could the batman robin talk be for real? Could Owens be the WR1 on this team? Honestly I don't know on this one what I see happening with this situation is TO and Ocho eat into each others stats and come close to a fair split making them both low end WR2s in fantasy..good for Owens owners bad for Ocho owners. Palmer and Cincy's weak pass protection will keep the Bengals arial attack from being good enough to have a top 10 passing attack.

Felix Jones, I.Classics and Marion Barber, Ducks - Looks a lot like a full RBBC maybe even including Tashard Choice. Felix still a homerun threat but both him and Barber look like RB3's/Flex options. Barber definitely looks like the goaline back Felix's fumble sure didn't help. Choice looks like a guy who could carry the load if given the opportunity too bad.

Tony Romo, U.Gators and Miles Austin, W.Dogz - The Cowboys connection looked pretty good other than a few errant throws from Romo and one drop by Austin. As much as I can tell from limited action the Cowboys offense should be potent unfortunately with Dez coming off injury he'll probably be eased in the offense meaning Bust Roy Williams will get one last shot. Romo is a definite QB1 and I think Austin is a very legitimate WR1. As much as I hate Dallas they're gonna be very good this year.

In other news Ahmad Bradshaw is taking the vast majority of 1st team carries with New York and Jacobs is rumored to be pushed to 3rd down and Goaline roles lowering his value substantially.

The Revis hold out looks like it could last a while all AFC East receivers get a slight bump with the chance they won't be stranded on Revis island twice this year.

Vincent Jackson dealt for Aromashadu and a 1st

U.Gators Get: WR Vincent Jackson

Rayz Get: WR Devin Aromashadu and a 1st round pick

Vincent Jackson is facing a three game suspension and has yet to report to training camp so this is a calculated risk on my part. Aromashadu has potential to bust out in Martz's offense but is currently 3rd on the depth chart. This is a move the Rayz had to make though as they need flex options and couldn't wait out a Vjax hold out.

Is this it?

Favre's retirement kills the Vikings superbowl dreams and maybe drops them to 3rd in the NFC North but what about the GFFL?

HEELS - Favre's retirement is a huge blow and he is now forced to having Matt Cassel as his QB1. The Heel's playoff chances may have all but disappeared.

VOGLER88 - Sidney Rice obviously is severely effected by this, Tjax just can't get the ball to him like Favre can he is now a low WR2.

COPPERHEADS - Percy Harvin same situations as Sidney Rice although he may not be hurt quite as much. I could see the Vikings throwing a lot of quick slants and checkdowns to get the ball into Percy's hands I'd even go as far to say that without Favre, Harvin, not Rice is the Vikings number 1 fantasy receiver.

KINGS - Adrian Peterson will face more men in the box than ever, he will also get more carries than ever. It'll be interesting to see what that does to his fantasy value his touchdowns will come down for sure I think at best Peterson puts up 20 points or so less than his total in 2009 and at worst he gets totally shut down and the Vikings can't get anything done.

DUCKS - Visanthe Shiancoe will more than likely go back to being more of a blocking option but then again inexperienced QB's like to use the tightend a lot I just don't think he'll be anywhere close to last year look for a steep decline in numbers.

Everyone should feel horrible for the Heels unless you're in the Central Division then I guess you're feeling pretty great.
