Franchise: Blue Line Punishers
Owner: Michael Vogler
Seasons: 6 (2010-Present)
All Time Record: 47-37
Playoff Record: 8-3
Championships: 2 (VIII, IX)
Appearances: 3
2015: 9-5 (L Wildcard to Blazers)
Overview: Other than his inaugural season when he took over an awful Average Joes squad, Vogler has been one of if not the most successful GFFL owner since joining the league. In their last 5 seasons he has averaged 8.8 W's and 5.2 L's a season while making 5 straight playoff appearances, 3 Championship appearances, and 2 GFFL Bowl titles. While there have been some off field problems, (one leading to him losing his beloved Pirates squad), Vogler has been overall a great owner to have and has found success a lot of owners can only dream of.
2015: If you polled the league prior to the season no one, other than Vogler, would have thought he could take the former Little Giants to even a .500 season let alone a playoff appearance. However Vogler immediately began making win now moves and turned this squad from a cellar dweller to a contender and top 3 seed. He was actually one win away from a top 2 seed and bye week, and people were starting to believe a 4th straight GFFL Bowl appearance was possible. This was not to be though as the overlooked 6 seeded Blazers on the back of Danny Woodhead pulled off an upset for the ages and ended Vogler's run.
2016: Vogler will look to continue what he does best, make the playoffs and make people mad.
Starting Line Up
QB Aaron Rodgers (32)
HB LeSean McCoy (27)
HB Matt Forte (30)
WR Dez Bryant (27)
WR Calvin Johnson (30)
WR Larry Fitzgerald (32)
TE Travis Kelce (26)
Notable Bench: HB Demarco Murray (28), HB Darren McFadden (28), WR Steve Smith (37)
Pros: Team looks just good enough to be a contender as long as 1) Mega comes back, 2) Forte lands in a solid spot this offseason, and 3) DMurray at least somewhat gets back to form. Dez is coming off surgery but he should be healthy and back producing WR1 numbers in 2016. Rodgers-Dez-Kelce trio really help anchor this squad and keep them in the contender conversation.
Cons: Central division is getting #GOOD. While the Classics and Punishers are locks to field solid teams, all of a sudden it looks like the Dream Killers and Nutrients are ready to make some noise. I think you could start to see a changing of the guard as soon as 2016 with the Dream Killers and Nutrients becoming the class of the Central.
Outlook: I think with this squad currently, the lack of any future picks/youth, and the emergence of the Central division, Vogler's team has a 1 year window in its current state. I really think this team can contend in 2016 but with the ages of some of these guys and the decline some are on, Vogler could be in for a hard rebuild starting in 2017. The question is do you make a trade to try to balance out the present and future outlook or do you put all the chips in the middle of the table and go for it all in 2016?
