Scratch that

I've been so in to mine and tray's game that I didn't realize how close the W.Dogz and Mountaineers game really is this one could go either way and I'd say the Mountaineers are favored so put that champagne on ice and we'll have to see what happens

Weiner Dogz Clinch Western Division; Rayz Clinch Playoff Spot

The Weiner Dogz with their win over the Mountaineers have won the West Division and have guaranteed that they will have either the 1,2, or 3 seed in playoffs.

The Rayz have clinched a playoff spot due to Ochocinco's and Mountaineers' loss if they can beat the U.Gators they will clinch the East Division.

Format for the lottery and how to get an added helmet

The Draft Lottery will be held on Divisional Sunday this year.

The worst record will receive 9 helmets in the lotto
2nd worst - 7 helmets
3rd worst - 5 helmets
4th worst - 3 helmets
5th worst - 2 helmets
6th worst - 1 helmet

There is a way to earn extra helmets for the lottery the non playoff team that scores the most points week 15-17 will get three extra helmets, 2nd highest score will get 2 helmets

Game Impacts (Playoff Scenarios)

First here are the Playoff Clinching Scenarios

Rayz Scenarios

If Rayz win they clinch a playoff spot and the East Division

If Rayz win and Ducks lose they clinch the East Division and a first round bye

If Rayz lose but Instant Classics lose then the Rayz clinch a playoff spot

Weiner Dogz Scenarios

If W.Dogz win and Instant Classics lose and Heels lose then they clinch a playoff spot

Unbeaten Gators Scenarios

If U.Gators win and Instant Classics lose then they clinch a playoff spot barring the points tie breaker.

Mountaineers Scenarios

If Mountaineers win and Heels lose they clinch a playoff spot

Game looks
Unbeaten Gators 7-3-1 at Rayz 9-2

This is pretty much for the East Division if Rayz win they take it, if the U.Gators win then they are a half game back and need the Rayz to falter once more or tie while they win out.

Princesses 1-10 at Panthers 5-6

The Princesses want to rid themselves of this losing streak but the Panthers need this game to keep their hopes alive as they head into two games vs the Rayz and U.Gators after this one.

Ducks 7-4 at Instant Classics 6-4-1

If the Ducks win they pretty much lock up the Central as they'd take a 1 and a half game lead heading into the last two games. With a loss the Instant Classics playoff hopes start to get in jeopardy at 6-5-1 with the Heels and Panthers close behind.

Heels 6-5 at P.Cobras 2-9

If the Heels can win here and the Instant Classics falter the Heels become in the driver seat and in control of their own playoff destiny.

Mountaineers 7-4 at W.Dogz 8-3

If the W.Dogz win here the West is pretty much won, but if the Mountaineers win here the division race is reopened up kind of and they get a huge boost to their playoff chances.

Kings 3-7-1 at C.Falcons 3-7-1

No playoff implications

Ronnie Brown to the Princesses

Princesses Get: HB Ronnie Brown

Panthers Get: WR Santonio Holmes and a 5th rounder

The Princesses' keepers have gotten strides better than before and now looks to be Brees, Ronnie Brown, and Moreno

Rivers and MB3 and 4th rd. for Slaton and a 1st rd.

Well with around 45 minutes to go in trade deadline the Rayz have moved Slaton and a 1st rounder (Kings) for Rivers, MB3, and a 4th rounder. I think this is an unbelievable trade for the Purple Cobras and their rebuilding plan. They now have Slaton, T.Jones, and either Sidney Rice or MSW and now they'll have a top 6 pick. As for the Rayz they're getting ready for the playoffs but I don't see it as a huge upgrade Jerry Jones has been clamoring for Felix Jones to get more involved hurting MB3's value but Rivers is an upgrade at QB. If any trades are gonna get done you guys better hurry. Dylan has the 4g going in the car on the way to Asheville so we'll be here for the next two hours or so to put through trades and write up on the trade deadline.

Rivers Deal to happen tomorrow?

Rumors Swirl of a Slaton + 1st rounder for Rivers and Barber...we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Brees on the move

WOW...the Princesses just moved HB Reggie Bush, a 1st rounder, 3rd rounder, and 7th rounder for Drew Brees.

Boldin goes for U.Gators 3rd round pick

The Unbeaten Gators have now completed three trades this deadline week and have now moved their third for Boldin to add to the Cutler trade and the offseason huge Peterson trade. Trade deadline is fast approaching and Dylan has apparently been trying to move Brees.

Lee Evans and Hines Ward go to Rayz for 6th rounder

The combination of Lee Evans and Hines Ward was traded to the Rayz from the Kings for a 6th rounder.

It's now approximately 19 and a 1/2 hours until trade deadline ends so if you want to get something done you better get the texts or phone lines burning.

A Look at the fallen and their hopes for 2010

This list includes a 2 time defending champion, an all time loss record setter, a new young franchise, and one of the most aggressive owners in league history.

The Carolina Falcons coming off 4 straight playoff appearances and 2 straight championships have completely self destructed this year. At 3-7-1 no one knows the exact reason why but the C.Falcons have rarely been competitive this year. Combine that with the fact his only legitimate stud is HB Michael Turner and it could be a while before this team is back to the title game unless Brandon rededicates himself to being a top notch team.

The Kings had a championship caliber squad this was suppose to be their year for a title the playoffs were a lock but now they sit here at 3-7-1 wondering what happened. This is their 4th consecutive year of missing the playoffs but they have put together a team of super keepers with QB Brees, HB A.Peterson, HB MJD for 2010 only problem for Dylan is his first pick isn't until the 6th round but we'll see if this strategy works and is good enough to finally get him back to the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

The Purple Cobras, former Titans, had a rough comeback into the league currently at 2-9 but the future is not too bleak while they won't transform into a stud team over night it's not crazy to think this team could build around QB Rivers, HB T.Jones, and WR MSW or Rice and find a way to enter the 2010 dance only problem is they're gonna have to do it without their 1st round pick which idk if it was worth Thomas Jones as it looks likely he could have gotten a Gore, Marshall, or Forte with the pick but we'll see.

The Princesses well the best thing they did this year is to get back into the league taking over Josh's floundering team just in time to reset the consecutive loss streak at 10. I'm not predicting a turn around for the Princesses in 2010 but they will have every opportunity as they have a very good shot at grabbing the first pick overall. The keepers of Moreno, S.Holmes, and Flacco would be nice to get upgraded but they're workable.

Trade Deadline Fast Approaching (Cutler goes for an 8th)

Deals have to be in and processed by 12 p.m. I will be traveling on Wednesday but if you guys do work out any deals or I do league members Taylor Ray or Christian Martin will be putting them through using my user name and league manager powers.

Some big deals have already been made such as the Dylan firesale and the Peterson offseason trade but another trade has gone through today the Princesses will be sending the U. Gators Jay Cutler for an 8th rounder and Chad Henne.

Currently Talk I've heard from the following teams are that these players are on the table. Here's a look at some of the bigger names. All wanting picks.

WR Anquan Boldin - C.Falcons

WR MSW or Rice - Purple Cobras

HB Hightower - Princesses

HB McFadden - U.Gators

TE Boss - Kings

WR Garcon - Kings

WR Massaquoi - Kings

HB R. Bush - Princesses

HB Westbrook - C.Falcons

QB Romo - C.Falcons

WR Burleson - P.Cobras

HB Marion Barber - P.Cobras

A Block Buster Deal to End all Block Buster Deals

************This trade will go into effect the day after the Fantasy Bowl V**************

In what resembles a Herschel Walker type deal the U.Gators and the Kings have come to an agreement that will send superstar runningback Adrian Peterson to the Kings on January 4th, 2010.

U.Gators Receive: HB Ray Rice, 1st Rounder (Purple Cobras), 1st Rounder (Ducks), 3rd Rounder and 4th Rounder in 2010. 1st Rounder, 3rd Rounder in 2011. 1st Rounder, 3rd Rounder in 2012, 1st Rounder and 3rd Rounder in 2013, and a 1st Rounder in 2014.

Final Tally: Ray Rice, 6 first rounders, 4 3rd Rounders, and 1 4th Rounder.

Kings Receive: HB A.Peterson

As much as I love Adrian Peterson and feel that he will lead me to my 3rd GFFL Championship this year this was just too much to pass up. I hope to use these picks in combination with whoever I decide to keep from my star studded team to go on a dynastic run. While this trade has some risk to it as I think Peterson will continue to be a stud for at least the next 5 years I believe this trade will add championship trophies to the U.Gators' case and that's what it's all about my friends.

Playoff Picture

Locks

Rayz (8-2) - Well the good thing about being a lock is a loss more than likely won't throw you out of it. While the surprising loss to the Mountaineers hurts his division title chances and gives the U.Gators an opening for a showdown, it won't affect his playoff chances 8 wins should be no doubt good enough to be in as Taylor Ray will make his first playoff appearance.

W.Dogz(7-3) - Another lock that lost, but with three ridiculously easy match ups coming up (Purple Cobras, Mountaineers, and Carolina Falcons) they should win all 3 of those and should definitely have no problem winning at least one I think this team will win the West easily the only question is will they be good enough to get a first round bye.

Ochocinco (6-3-1) - A new addition to the locks, while a loss to the Princesses could have really put some pressure on this team coming off the win they should be fine they have a bit tougher schedule then most but they do have a for sure win against the Purple Cobras and with their talent they should win a lot more than that and it should come down to the game VS the Ducks to see who takes the Central either way Ochocinco will be in.

U.Gators (6-3-1) - Coming off a dogfight win against the Kings, this team has all but punched their ticket to the playoffs with two cupcake games left one against the C.Falcons and one against the Princesses the only question is can they steal the East Division their showdown with the Rayz is a week away.

Ducks (6-4) - With a soft schedule coming up and a newly power filled line up the Ducks are a lock to make it the only question is will it be them or Ochocinco winning the Central?

Good Chance

Mountaineers (7-3) - Just need to get lucky one more time and they're pretty much in as they own the tiebreaker over the Heels and Panthers the only way I see this team getting ousted is if the Panthers win out and he loses out.

Looks good chance but on further review not so good

Heels (6-4) - Good record but not so good team especially after the Brady trade I couldn't see this team making the playoffs their schedule is strong it was a good first season for the Heels but it won't include the postseason.

Longshot but Great team

Panthers (4-6) - If the Mountaineers didn't own the tiebreaker over them I'd actually think they had a pretty good shot but with the Mountaineers still being the Mountaineers if they can find a way to lose out and the Panthers can win out including huge games against the Rayz and U.Gators than the Panthers could make the postseason and once there could shock the GFFL.

Firesale

Wow...that was quick...that's what she said... hours after getting beat and all but mathematically out of it, the Kings began their firesale early in the morning they moved their soon to be 32 year old flex runningback Thomas Jones for a steal of a deal getting both a 1st and 3rd rounder from the Purple Cobras a lottery team who I guess feels that T.Jones has one more solid year in him next year and will have him be their keeper and center of their team. Then he proceeded to move Steve Smith, Antonio Gates, D Saints, and Jammaal Charles while the Ducks overpaid giving a 1st for this group I really like this trade a whole lot for both teams. The Kings of course get in gear for next year now having two first round picks but this is HUGE for the Ducks and rids them of their former weaknesses of having no tight end, a spotty flex play, and spotty number 2 running back. Now they have a team that could legitimately compete for the title and be considered championship caliber. The now stud line up is listed below so if the Ducks end your season be sure to blame the Kings and their horrible season as well.

QB Rodgers
HB D.Williams
HB Charles
HB/WR S.Smith
WR Fitzgerald
WR Marshall
TE Gates
D Saints

New York Princesses reenter the league

The New York Princesses went 4-10 in 2008 after a 3-1 start, their last game in the league was a week 14 72-71 win over the Rayz, they set the record for most consecutive losses, but now they're back. The former Average Joes franchise ends with the worst winning percentage in league history.

At first look the team is awful but it is not in as bad shape if you look closely. They're guaranteed to have a top 6 pick in the draft and should have the most chance for the number one pick in the lottery. The keepers may not be too bad with some sort of Flacco, Moreno, and Holmes combo so this team can be turned around its just gonna take a lot of work.

Average Joes' Owner hands in resignation

Citing a horrible team and closing in on the all time consecutive loss record Josh Phillips has quit and relinquished control of his 1-8 team. This will have no barrings or impact on Johhny or the Purple Cobras' tenure in the league. Josh Phillips will be replaced ironically by the owner who currently holds the record for consecutive losses Rebekah Mattox. She will be allowed to change the teams name. Josh joins the likes of Daniel Lawson becoming only the 2nd owner in GFFL history to quit the league.

Maybe the only move that could help this battering franchise was a change in ownership, Taylor Ray took over a team midseason last year and has now become a fixture in the league and one of its most vital members and he has found great success in his first full year so far jumping to an 8-1 record. So maybe the former Average Joes will be turned around next year.

The new name has not been announced yet but when it is it'll be posted here.

More post to follow.

Playoff Picture

It's gotten to a point where the playoff picture is starting to really take shape and every game becomes huge for those trying to get in. While no one has clinched yet you can still see who are locks already based on record, who have the solid chances, who are on the bubble, the long shots, and the no chances.
Just to clarify the 3 division winners make the playoffs followed by 3 wildcards

Locks

Rayz (8-1) - Based on looking at the schedule 8 wins should be a no doubt definite in so the only question now is do they hold onto the division and can they hold onto that number 1 seed. They have a hard stretch coming up soon with 3 straight games against the Panthers, Ochocinco, and division rival U.Gators.

Weiner Dogz (7-2) - This is the one team I'll say already has the division locked up so the Weiner Dogz will either be a 1,2, or 3 seed for sure, I know the Mountaineers only trail by a game but I don't see the Mountaineers winning another game.

Solid Bets

Ochocinco (5-3-1) - Based on his current record I couldn't quite put him in the locks yet but I think he will easily take the Central Division putting him in line for a 3 seed and maybe even a 2 or a 1 seed.

Unbeaten Gators (5-3-1) - Trailing the Rayz by 2.5 games with 5 to go and a one of the games being against the Rayz the division is still up for grabs but regardless I think my U.Gators will have no problem making the playoffs and snagging the 4 seed if I can't make a play for the division.

Bubble

Mountaineers (6-3) - They need to get lucky twice more in 5 games if they want to be a sure lock but I think 7-7 will get you in the playoffs this year I just don't know if this team can win another game their roster not their record is why they are in the Bubble column.

Ducks (5-4) - Out of the three bubble teams I'll say the Ducks have the most talented roster and I think they will find their way back to the playoffs barring any pitfalls you should see this team moving into the solid bets maybe by next week.

Heels (5-4) - After going 3-0 they have dropped 4 of their last 6 and face a big game against the 7-2 W.Dogz a win would really help this team position itself but even with a loss they still have a pretty good shot as their main competition for a playoff spot are the Mountaineers or one of the long shots(like a King or Panther).

Long Shots

Panthers (3-6) - Losing that game to the W.Dogz was a huge blow but if any team has the talent to win out or go 4-1 and get back into the race they do.

Kings (2-6-1) - If they can beat the U.Gators this week a small small small glimmer of hope will be there for a magical run while this team is talented it is a very tall order for them to beat out their other long shot counterpart let alone steal a position from one of the bubble teams but we will see.

No Shots

Carolina Falcons (3-5-1) - A better record than both of the long shots but their team just doesn't measure up as one capable of climbing back into the race.

Purple Cobras (2-7) - Very Dangerous team when it comes to upsets but no way they find a way into the playoffs.

Average Joes (1-8) - They could be mathematically eliminated in a week no chance this team wins another game, the only thing they should win this year is the draft pick lottery.

Here's my Projected playoff bracket as of today
1. U.Gators

2. Ochocinco

3. W.Dogz
6. Panthers

4. Rayz
5. Ducks

Average Joes lose 8th in a row close in on worst record

The Average Joes are having a miserable season after shocking the Panthers in the first week of the season they have gone on to lose 8 consecutive games. If they lose to Ochocinco this Sunday they will tie the Princesses 2008 record of 9 straight losses, but that's not all the 2005 worst record of all time Wil Macabee's Gators in the first year of the GFFL went 3-12 is in jeopardy and could be "topped" by the Joes not to mention the least amount of points in a season record by the Rockets (1,058) in 2008 should also be broken by the Joes. All you can do if you're Josh is take solace in the fact that the former league laughing stock Ducks went all the way to the championship game last year and are in good position at 5-4 to make a run at back to back playoff appearances.

Around the league

East

- If the Rayz can pull off a win tonight against the C.Falcons they will be 8-1 and based on my end projections for the season 8 wins should be an automatic in for the playoffs so if your Tray you turn your attention to trying to sow up the division and get home field advantage throughout.

- The U.Gators are coming on strong having won 4 of their last 5 games and coming off a game they scored 112 points without their franchise player Peterson. They should get to the playoffs easily the only question is can they make a run at the Rayz for the division at 2.5 games back with 5 games to go but they do get a game against the Rayz.

- Two different tales for this post, if the Panthers win tonight to get to 4-5 I have no doubt they will claw their way into the playoffs now if they're 3-6 I still have faith in this team as I think 7 wins will put you in the tiebreaker for a 6 seed this year and I think this team has the talent to go 4-1 or better in their final 5, but its gonna be a whole lot tougher if they don't get this win tonight.

- The A.Joes have already been covered enough but one more tidbit sitting on 27 points with Moreno and Holmes to go its unlikely but they still could set a new scoring low record beating the Ducks 33 points in '06 when we only had 8 starting positions instead of 9.

Central

- Ochocinco at 5-3-1 is the new leader in the Central Division and I don't expect that to change from here to the end of the regular season. While this team has a whole at tightend and their flex play it is still one of the better teams in the league and one with just as much chance to bring home the title as anyone.

- Heels got crushed this past sunday and since their 3-0 start they have crashed to 5-4 and are one of those bubble teams on whether they'll be in or out of the playoffs come December they could take a huge step forward if they can beat the W.Dogz(6-3) this weekend.

- The Ducks got a huge win over the Kings this weekend and I think they will ride Deangelo to back to back playoff appearances as long as they win their gimme games.

- The Purple Cobras won the battle of the terrible teams but hey if they can start scoring 90+ each week if they could win out........nah but I do think this a team that could pull off some upsets that have playoff implications if they keep putting as much into it as they do.

West

- The Mountaineers are 6-3 and all they need to do to create an unbelievably unexpected season is to get lucky twice more, I don't see it happening but I'd love to see them prove me wrong and bring one of the worst rosters in the league into the playoffs.

- If the W.Dogz win tonight and get to 7-2 they will be on their way to their first division title even if they don't I think they get their 1st division title thanks in large part to a guy name Miles but hey once you get in the dance it doesn't matter how you got there just whether you can dance to the finals or not.

- How the mighty have fallen the two time defending champ barring an upset of Taylor Ray tonight will have slipped to 3-5-1 and not having a dominant dominant roster this year I can't see them punching a ticket to the playoffs in any scenario so the championship run ends at 2 barring a miracle.

- The biggest disappointment in the league, with one of the most talented rosters he's ever had and putting more time in it than ever the Kings unless they can win out which based on their bad luck this year is unlikely will miss the playoffs for the 4th consecutive year while this roster definitely has the talent to win out It would be the story of the year if it happened and with a game against the red hot U.Gators who have Peterson going against Detroit the chance could be over before it begins.

So there's your look inside the GFFL as we enter the homestretch of the regular season.

The Fall of a KINGdom

The season that started off with championship aspirations has quickly turned into a nightmare. Trading away the future for hopes of one special year has backfired fast on the Jerry Jones of the league Dylan Gibson. To have a good shot at the playoffs he needs to win at least 5 out of the last 6 games which would put him at 7-6-1 which may be good enough to barely squeeze out a playoff spot. So to securely have a playoff spot he needs to go 6-0 over the last 6 games. Call me crazy but I still believe in him to make the dance. His last 6 games are against the Ducks (4-4) should be won, against the U.Gators (4-3-1) with Schaub and Andre on a bye he might have a shot but Peterson is playing Detroit so this ones gonna be tough, Average Joes (1-6 monday night game still pending) easily winnable, against the two time defending league champions C.Falcons (3-4-1) could go either way, Mountaineers (5-2), and W.Dogz 6-2 both winnable. So as of now I say the Kings will be in come December but they can't afford to blow any game and every game has become a must win with the margin of error at 1 game. If they lose two before the trade deadline I would advise a fire sale for draft picks to try to salvage the future.
