After a trade deadline that saw big moves out of the Gators, Blazers, and Oilers franchises, it's time to take another look at the GFFL XI Championship odds.
1. Wolf Puppies (9-1) - It's hard not to rank Essick's franchise #1 as they are leading not only the standings but points scored as well. While they will most likely take an L this weekend due to bye week struggles, they are all but assured a playoff spot and the #1 seed. That of course puts them 1 win away from GFFL Bowl XI and 2 wins away from being this year's champion. This team may not look like the best squad on paper but they are riding a rag-tag group of out of nowhere HB1's (Charcandrick and DWill) and are at this point the favorite to be GFFL Bowl XI Champions.
Odds: 1/1.
2. STUB (6-4) - I know a lot of you guys don't want to see this team ranked so high and I'll be honest I can't believe they are. This is one of those examples of the more things change the more they stay the same. Vogler has an entirely new franchise, yet here we are again looking at him as a possible championship contender. This squad may be getting healthy at the right time to make an unreal fourth consecutive trip to the GFFL Bowl. One thing is for sure, I think we are headed for a week 14 Classics-STUB showdown for the Central division, #2 seed, and 1st round bye. Vogler boasts a very complete team (especially if McFadden stays healthy) and with Romo back for Dez, STUB may have saved their best for last.
Odds: 2/1
3. Gators (5-5) - The Gators may be destined to play in the wildcard round (possibly even as the 6 seed), however if you're looking at rosters there is not a stronger team out there. Palmer-Freeman-Peterson-Lynch-DT-Evans-Reed, as far as usage and talent in 2015 it doesn't get much better than this. They'll have to finish this season out at least 6-1 to win a title most likely but the talent is here to do it. It's been a weird season for the Gators and while this is far from the undefeated season many speculated about they still have a great shot at GFFL's ultimate prize.
Odds: 4/1.
4. Classics (7-3) - This team is a lock for the playoffs, especially with 2 Nutrient games left on the schedule. The only problems for the defending champs are, one STUB is lurking to steal that bye week, and two he is in a very bad spot as far as halfbacks. JHill has been garbage and has a very uninviting playoff schedule, Starks is a low end HB2 at best, and Chris Johnson is seemingly wearing down and one bad quarter away from losing his job to Ellington/D.Johnson. Christian is a heck of an owner, that's why he's the defending champ. However on a team full of big names the only guy he's got that is playing like a star is last year's GFFL Bowl MVP, Antonio Brown. I'm overall very worried about the Classics and think if they don't get that 1st round bye their chances at making it back to the GFFL Bowl are slim to none.
Odds: 7/1
5. Oilers (6-4) - Surprise, this team that seemed destined to rebuild is now right in the thick of things and the heavy favorite to win the West. It's kind of a weird squad, not superstar names we're used to seeing on championship squads, but Hopkins and AROB are the new elite WR's in town. They also have two high end HB2's that are just good enough to bring home a championship. Eifert gives this squad an elite scoring threat at TE who is capable of winning weeks on his own making this team very dangerous in the playoffs.
Odds: 8/1
6. Blazers (5-5) - Kind of a gross team but at the end of the day they can field a competitive roster at each position and are led by the number one QB in fantasy, Tom Brady. While they are most definitely a long shot they have the ground work set up in such a way that lightning could strike and they could go on a magical 3 game run. Will they? Probably not. Also before even thinking about that magical run, they have to get through this tough 3 game stretch over the next 3 weeks first (Gators, DKillers, Oilers).
Odds: 15/1
7. Dream Killers (5-5) - Man that game last week would have been nice to have. However the Dream Killers' schedule sets up in such a way that playoffs still seem very possible if not likely. The biggest game on their schedule is a Thanksgiving week 12 match up with the Blazers. That game could very well go a long way in determining who goes to the dance and who stays home. The DKillers have an eye on 2016 and their roster while decent at every spot does not seem like a real championship threat (you never know what can happen when the season comes down to 3 weeks though). One thing that really may come back to haunt, Miles is the points tiebreaker as they have scored the 2nd fewest points in the whole league. While I think DKillers are more likely to make the playoffs than the Blazers, I actually think they have worse championship odds.
Odds: 25/1
8. Synergy Express (6-4) - I don't know how Chris has gotten this team to 6-4, I just really don't know but I do applaud it. The schedule is also pretty decent for a playoff ticket but...there's just no way in the world this roster can win a championship it just cannot happen and it will not happen. I don't know if they'll hold on to their playoff spot but I do know Synergy Express will not be your 2015 champions.
Odds: 100/1

12 Quick Hits
12 Quick Hits
1. The Wolf Puppies set a brand new scoring record of 164, unreal amount of points, thanks in large part to Drew Brees' 44 point outburst. Will didn't have a lot of respect last year and was known mostly as "that guy that made that trade" but after taking over the ex-Pirates, Will has made some solid moves and kept the magic going with this franchise. If he can lead these guys to the #1 seed and to GFFL Bowl XI, respect won't be a problem anymore.
2. All in, that's the message the Gators sent when they dealt LeVeon Bell and Stefon Diggs this week. I was able to trade for about 70% of my starting line up for my match up this week against STUB and I've got my sights set solely on a 2015 playoff berth and title.
3. The Dream Killers, aka the anti-Gators, are grabbing future chips every and any way they can. They've acquired both LeVeon Bell and Keenan Allen in addition to a trade earlier in the year that netted them Jordy Nelson. It's an excellent strategy at 5-3 as they still have a roster that looks like a contender, but have also set themselves up to field a potential juggernaut in 2016 and beyond.
4. Don't look now but the Houston Oilers are 6-2 and just might be for real. I know what you're thinking, the West is terrible and yeah you would be right. This is a solid squad though and there's an argument that could be made that they are a top 3-4 team in the league.
5. It's about time for the Blazers to turn into sellers, this team is not making the playoffs but they do have valuable playoff assets. Tom Brady, Frank Gore, Danny Woodhead, and Justin Forsett could all net some youth and/or picks that would serve the Blazers better than bringing them back in 2016.
6. How cool are the Nutrients man? Yeah I know they suck but to have Todd Gurley and Amari Cooper on the same squad is just awesome. If they can figure out a way to fill out the rest of this starting line up then they could eventually take control of the Central for a whileeeee.
7. Copperheads are taking the rest of this year and 2016 off but 2017, oh 2017, these guys will have some fun in a loaded draft.
8. The Classics are kind of flying under the radar but they look like a lock for 9-10 wins and an outside shot at their patented 11-3 season. This squad is arguably the most consistent franchise in GFFL history and they've put themselves in place to contend for a record 3rd GFFL title this year.
9. I said arguably for a reason, no franchise has had as much success year in and year out as the ones ran by Michael Vogler. Three straight championship games and now he's taken a franchise that was 3-11 last year to a 5-3 record and a favorite to make the playoffs. If he somehow gets this squad to GFFL Bowl XI, I really don't know what we'll do.
10. Taylor Ray has an interesting squad this year, they're ultra talented in some areas and just average in others which is normally a formula for a playoff spot but for some reason this just hasn't really clicked. At 4-4 with a daunting schedule coming up you could see this team become a seller at the deadline (Marshawn Lynch anyone?), especially if they drop this game to the Blazers.
11. The Panthers are 2-6, their owner is the oldest in the league and technology challenged so this squad doesn't get a lot of press. However with that being said, the Panthers are building a little squad over here, Tannehill-Latavius-JStew-Alshon-Cooks-Olsen and a top 3 pick in 2016 that's a building project that's going in the right direction.
12. Chris Murphy and Synergy Express is kind of weird, not so much Chris but the direction his team is going. I don't know what they're doing to be honest it's weird but I'm a big Diggs fan and wish they'd move Marshall for another young receiver so I could get somewhat excited about a Miller-Duke-Diggs-YoungWR core and picks.

WEEK 4
Top 5 Story Lines
1. There are 3 remaining undefeated teams, one from each division, the Wolf Puppies, Dream Killers, and most surprisingly Synergy Express who are yet to know what its like to take a loss as a franchise. Most impressive of these is Will Essick's Wolf Puppies. The Pups are averaging a strong 111 points per game and have yet to have trouble with any of their opponents.
2. There are also 3 winless teams, one from each division.. Surprisingly the Gators and the Copperheads have yet to get their first wins. The Nutrients are your third winless squad averaging a league worse 66 points per game.. The Nuts are struggling averaging just 2 PPG in their flex spot and 1.33 PPG from their Kicker.
3. NC Panthers pull off the huge upset on the Rays to keep them from advancing to 3-0.. What better way to pull off the upset than winning by one point and maybe an inch rush from Alex Smith in the last play of the Monday Night Game.
4. Classics post a season high 134 points to beat one of their biggest rivals STUB in a surprisingly close match up.. Classics other rival the Nutrients posted a season low 46 points.
5. The 1-2 Oilers seem to reload to continue to try to compete this season. They have been busy this week adding WR Emmanuel Sanders, HB Frank Gore, Panthers D/ST and more.
Week 4 Match Up Predictions
1-2 Oilers vs 1-2 Panthers
This father/son match up looks like it could be a close one. Panthers look to have the advantage at TE while the Oilers look to have a good advantage at WR depending on Alston and whether or not the Panthers can play the right bench WR.
Oilers win 89-81
MVP HB Karlos Williams 15 pts
1-2 Blazers vs 0-3 Nutrients
Blazers are the favorite in this one but the Nutrients look to pull off the upset knowing this may be one of their easier matchups this season. Blazers have the more solid line up but the Nutrients are looking for big games out of franchise star Amari Cooper and the amazing Tyrod Taylor.
Nutrients win upset 80-78
MVP WR Amari Cooper 18 pts
0-3 Copperheads vs 3-0 Wolf Puppies
Copperheads need this win to get their season going and Wolf Puppies look to stay undefeated. Both of these squads are facing some tough matchups with their top players. This blood bath could go either way.
Wolf Puppies win 90-84
MVP WR OBJ 21 pts
3-0 Dream Killers vs 2-1 Rayz
Another huge match up however both teams will be weaker this week as the Rays are without Gronk (BYE) and DK most likely without McCoy (Injury). A lot of this game will come down to CAM vs Russell Wilson.
Rayz win 88-79
MVP JULIOOO 22 pts
0-3 Gators vs 2-1 Classics
GAME OF THE WEEK
Two of the leagues top teams face off in this one as the Gators desperately look to get their first win. This may very well be the highest scoring game of the week. Very tough to pick a winner in this one.
Gators win 111-106
MVP Leveon Bell 23 pts
2-1 STUB vs 3-0 Synergy Express
Synergy hopes to get Lamar Miller going this week to help them stay undefeated, they also went out and traded for a top QB in Matt Ryan. STUB looks to give SE their first loss however and this veteran team seems to be firing on all cylinders.
STUB win 83-72
MVP Matt Forte 14 pts

GFFL Week 1 Recap/Power Rankings
Top 5 Story Lines
1. Well that wasn't the performance the LA Gators were expecting when they built this super team. Opening week saw the Gators put up a disappointing 78 pts and nothing was more to blame than the Denver offense led by 100 year old Peyton Manning. The Gators should get back on track after a deal with the Nutrients gives them a Lacy-DMurray-LBell-DT-JMatt-Hilton-Kelce core. One thing is for sure if Peyton lays another egg tomorrow night the Gators will be shopping for a QB.
2. STUB is in a similar situation to the Dallas Cowboys, got the 1-0 start but at a huge cost. I don't know who no Dez Bryant hurts worse, but I do know a Roddy White-Steve Smith receiving duo isn't scaring anyone. They're going to face an uphill climb to stay in the playoff mix this year and it may unfortunately already be time to prep for 2016.
3. Dream Killers pull off the big week 1 upset 78-77 and potentially start a new league rivalry with the Classics. Of course this rivalry is centered around Christian and Miles Watkins-Abdullah no trade this past off season (Watkins finished week 1 with 0 catches and 0 points). Although Miles is smiling right now, the team with the last laugh will be the one holding the Central division crown at the end of the season.
4. Tray says get the best (Julio-Gronk) and forget the rest. If the Rayz can find a way to piece the rest of their line up together they have arguably the top 2 dynasty assets out there, and could be very dangerous.
5. Congratulations to Synergy Express on winning their franchise's first ever game! They won't all be this easy and I still believe this franchise is a lot closer to the bottom than the top but a week 1 win is a nice way to get started.

Week 2 Power Rankings
1. LA Gators (0-1) - LBell/Lacy/DMurray/DT/JMatt...I'm just not ready to move this squad down from #1 yet. Another loss in week 2 would change my mind pretty quickly but for now this still looks like the title game favorite.
2. Copperheads (0-1) - Huge upset for the Oilers to topple the Copperheads, however that may be the only divisional game they lose all year. This squad with the emergence of Hyde is right up there with the Gators as far as starting line up talent. If Adam doesn't make the playoffs I'll eat my hat.
3.Wolf Puppies (1-0) - Desperately need a #2 back, but Charles-ODB-Mega-Cooks is a good enough core 4 where GFFL Bowl talk for the Wolf Puppies is warranted.
4. Instant Classics (0-1) - Not going to overreact to week 1 for the defending champions either. The bottom line for Christian though is he has to get a real running back in there soon, Randle is a low end HB2, Blue is trash, and Foster has an uncertain time table. The rest of the squad is championship caliber without a doubt.
5. Dream Killers (1-0) - Honestly there was a lot of debate for these #4 and #5 slots. A 100% healthy Foster barely edges the Classics over the Dream Killers for me. Miles has a sick team though and the JHill-McCoy combo should run him into the playoffs.
6. Rayz (1-0) - As I said before Julio-Gronk combo and forget the rest. Taylor is a sneaky title pick going off at about 10/1 right now.
HUGE DROP OFF
7. Houston Oilers (1-0) - While I don't love this squad they are the 2nd best team in a very weak division and could find a way to pile up a lot of wins and get into the dance on the back of DHop.
8. Synergy Express (1-0) - Same ideas as Oilers write up but 3rd best team. Really playoffs are a long shot this year but the Lamar Miller-Duke Johnson HB combo for the future could be something solid.
9. Panthers (0-1) - Made some nice moves to get away from Jordy Nelson and Arian Foster injuries, unfortunately the idea of this squad making it to the playoffs out of the East seems like more of a fairy tale than a real possibility.
10. STUB (0-1) - Well when you trade for a WR with a torn acl and then your franchise WR breaks a bone in his foot in week 1, it may not be your year. Vogler is a great owner and his success speaks for itself but I don't think Jon Gruden could get this injury riddled team to the dance. May have to wait until 2016 for the return of the dark side in the playoffs.
11. Nutrients (0-1) - Rebuilding and having a less than stellar season is a lot easier to deal with when you have Todd Gurley, Amari Cooper, Dorial Green-Beckham, and a top 3 pick for 2016.
12. Blazers (0-1) - Rebuilding and having a less than stellar season is a lot harder to deal with withou those guys. Blazers keep stocking picks for 2017 (4 1sts) giving the franchise and its fans hope and a light at the end of the tunnel.

Gibson Fantasy Football Dynasty Assets (88-74)
Let Me Be Your #2
88. WR Julian Edelman (29), Houston Oilers
87. WR Kenny Stills (23), Long Island Blazers
86. WR Michael Crabtree (27), North Carolina Panthers
85. WR Golden Tate (27), High Point Little Giants
It goes without saying this group features a bunch of solid WR2's. Edelman and Tate are solidified in their roles within their perspective offenses and while they lack week winning upside (aside from when Mega is out) they are both great plug and plays as weekly WR2's. The Free Agent Michael Crabtree also occupies a spot in this group as greener pastures (WR1 for Carr in Oakland?) could put him firmly in the every week WR2 conversation. Then there's 23 year old Kenny Stills. Arguably the soon to be number one outside wide receiver for Drew Brees, Stills could and should easily morph into a solid WR2 option.
84. WR Duron Carter (24), Gators
83. WR Justin Blackmon (25), Dream Killers
82. WR Josh Gordon (24), Rayz
Three ridiculously talented wide outs with a ton of baggage. While Gordon and Blackmon are definitely a tier or two above Duron in overall talent, he earns his spot in this group as he is the only one out of the three who is a current active member of a team. Not to mention Duron's landing spot could not be sweeter, if he plays his cards right he could be tied to Luck for the majority of his NFL career. Gordon and Blackmon on the other hand have both proven they can perform as high level WR1's in this league (Gordon could/will? have a new home in 2016), if they can just get on the field.
81. HB Ryan Mathews (27), Long Island Blazers
80. HB Doug Martin (26), Houston Oilers
79. WR Pierre Garcon (29), Houston Oilers
78. WR Victor Cruz (28), Nutrients
77. WR Andre Johnson (34), Little Giants
76. WR Larry Fitzgerald (32), Chris Murphy
75. WR Eric Decker (28), Wolf Puppies
74. HB CJ Spiller (28), Dream Killers
Everyone in this group was once a top 1-3 round redraft pick and the majority of them have had a cup of coffee in the first round. Now most of them are looking to rebound while a few of them are even in the twilight of their dynasty careers (Andre3000 and Fitz). All very risky players to acquire in dynasty but there's no denying the upside is there, all these players have top 15 potential at their respective positions or their values could continue to decline.
Gibson Fantasy Football Dynasty Trade Assets (89-100)
The premise of this article is the same as Bill Simmons' NBA trade value article. I attempted to write it as unbiased and from an "in a vacuum" perspective. Obviously certain players would be more appealing than others if you are rebuilding or contending but this is just from if I was making a dynasty right now who are the top 100 assets. If a player is in front of another player it means in a vacuum yes I would trade that particular player in a one for one swap for those in front of him. It however does not mean that the Amsterdam Gators would for sure perform the same one for one swap (but we might just ask). This list was tough to write and I definitely want to hear everyone's thoughts rookies were excluded from the list but for just for fun I'd say this year's 1.01 could be argued as a top 12 asset depending on landing spot.
Players just missing the cut: WR Kendall Wright (Nuts)/WR John Brown (Oil)/WR Jarvis Landry (NCP)/QB Ben Roethlisberger (Murph)/TE Eric Ebron (DK)/TE Tyler Eifert (Cop)/WR Reuben Randle (NCP)
Players just missing the cut: WR Kendall Wright (Nuts)/WR John Brown (Oil)/WR Jarvis Landry (NCP)/QB Ben Roethlisberger (Murph)/TE Eric Ebron (DK)/TE Tyler Eifert (Cop)/WR Reuben Randle (NCP)
My two favorite players from this list of those who just missed the cut would have to be without a doubt Eric Ebron and Tyler Eifert I think they have the most upside by far of anyone in this group and at a very shallow position. If I was going to pick one I'd take Ebron as he isn't handcuffed to raggedy Andy.
100. HB Rashad Jennings (30), NC Panthers
99. HB Chris Ivory (27), Long Island Blazers
When these guys are healthy and receiving the majority of the carries they are solid flex-low end HB2 options. Guys who are a flat out waste of space on a rebuilding squad but could be key role pieces to a playoff contender as Rashad was for the Panthers. Both have found spots on this list due to the shallow depth at the running back position.
One Last Ride
98. QB Tom Brady (38), Long Island Blazers
97. QB Peyton Manning (39), Instant Classics
Two hall of fame guys who can't have more than 1-2 seasons left in the tank but both offer top 5 overall QB upside any given year. Both are assets that are a lot easier to hold on to than to try to receive a fair offer on the market. Peyton is where he needs to be on the win-now Classics.
96. HB Robert Turbin (25), Instant Classics
95. HB Dan Herron (26), Wolf Puppies
94. HB Bryce Brown (24), Rayz
93. TE Ladarius Green (25), Gators
This is the lottery ticket group, Turbin could find himself as the top runner or part of a committee on the run first Seahawks at some point or never make it past being a back up, Herron could hold on to the HB1 job in Indy or (most likely) the Colts will address the position in the draft or via free agency and turn him into a 3rd down back or bench fodder (the fact that the Colts got burned investing in Trich could work into Herron's favor), Bryce Brown could take over at least the old Spiller role if not more if Buffalo lets Spiller walk and FJAX wears down or he could watch as the Bills bring back Spiller and/or draft a runner and his value could go bankrupt, Ladarius Green could be in line to be the new Gates but questions remain about his lack of usage last season (1.6 targets per game) but he could be suffering from Michael Turner syndrome (having a hall of famer in front of him) only problem with that theory is you can play more than one pass catching weapon at a time especially if he's a transcendent talent. My favorites from this list are obviously Ladarius and Bryce as I think they have TE1 and HB1 upside if given the usage but I would say Ladarius has the best odds out of the group by a good amount.
92. QB Matt Stafford (27), Copperheads
91. QB Matt Ryan (30), Houston Oilers
90. QB Colin Kaepernick (27), Rayz
89. QB Cam Newton (26), Dream Killers
You got your gun slingers with excellent weapons in this tier who have had big fantasy seasons and both have the potential to throw for 400 any given week, then you have your two transcendent running talents. You're probably wondering how I can have Kap and Cam up this high in the rankings after some of the struggles they had this season. Well my reasoning is one word upside. These are two running QB's who for the most part have stayed relatively healthy even while taking hits, have lacked big time passing game weapons, and haven't really gotten a chance to be in a pass first offense yet. Cam is essentially a low end QB1 and a goaline back in one player, while the rumor is the 49ers are going to bring back the read option in a big way for Kap. If these guys can progress as passers to be mid QB1's while they are still young and mobile their rushing stats could have them capable of a 2010 Mike Vick season or better.
