Championship Preview

Championship Facts

-No team has ever won without coming into the championship game with a top 10 back... the Weiner Dogz have SJAX(10) and the Rayz have no top ten backs.

- The lowest seed to win the title is the 3 seeded 2007 Carolina Falcons who also beat a one seed.

- 137 points is the highest score of a championship game ever. It was posted by the 2006 U.Gators against the Rockets.

- The last team to win the GFFL Bowl with double digit regular season wins was the 2005 U.Gators

- This will be the first champion not named Michael Gibson or Brandon Buck.

- The Weiner Dogz are 3-0 all time VS the Rayz including a win this year to end the Rayz hot start.

- Number one seeds are 1-2 all time in the GFFL Bowl with the 2005 U.Gators being the only winner and both the '07 U.Gators and '08 Ducks losing in the title game.

- Wildcard teams are 1-1 in GFFL BOWLS.

Now on to the preview...

4. Weiner Dogz 18-10 (3-1)

2008 9-5 L Divisional round to Ducks

2009 9-5...???

The Weiner Dogz have pulled off two titanic upsets of the Unbeaten Gators and then the 2 seeded Ducks to find themselves in the title game. In their first championship appearance the Weiner Dogz would love to do something their rival the Ducks couldn't do last year...win it all.

The Line Up

QB Roethlisberger
HB J. Stewart
HB S.Jackson
HB/WR Calv. Johnson
WR Austin
WR Welker
TE Witten
D 49ers
K Bironas

Keys to Victory: If this team just keeps playing like they have been they should be able to win the title. It'd be very beneficial for DWILL to sit out another game but its not vital.

What Could Do them in: The Cowboys getting shut down combined with DWILL coming back and taking the bulk of the carries combined with SJAX not playing and I don't think all three of those will happen. The Weiner Dogz seem to be in great shape.

1. Rayz 16-12 (1-0)

2008 5-9 NONE

2009 11-3...???

The Rayz have had a dream season but they do seem eerily similar to the '08 Ducks then again they have had some serious magic this season but can it continue for one more game the biggest game?

Line Up

QB Rivers
HB Mendenhall
HB Benson
HB/WR Harrison
WR Colston
WR Bowe
TE Clark
D Falcons
K Kaeding

Well for once this year it seems the Rayz have finally ran into a hotter team and I think the Weiner Dogz will have a big week on the back of JSTEW and a savvy waiver wire pick up of the 49ers D (33 points against the Rams last time). With that said I'm picking the Weiner Dogz as your GFFL BOWL V Champion. Yes that's what kind of season it's been.

As for the trophy that will be rewarded it is on its way via shipping now and it will be a trophy used for the remainder of the GFFL barring something crazy. This trophy will not be revealed until sunday night.

Rayz going to the Big Game

The Rayz dream season continues after they held on against the Instant Classics. The 11-3 Number one seed will be matched up with the Weiner Dogz in what should be a heck of a title game with no clear favorite. Both the Rayz and Weiner Dogz are enjoying the top 2 most luck filled seasons I've ever seen and one of their seasons is going to culminate into a championship. The Weiner Dogz ended the Rayz 5-0 start earlier in the year.

Just an added throw in with the Bengals Jets game being flexed to sunday night the championship could go into the night game for the first time ever with Benson and possibly Palmer(due to Chargers having everything wrapped up) starting for the Rayz.

Rayz-Ochocinco comes down to Vikings D tomorrow night

The Rayz currently hold a 13 point lead while Ochocinco still has the Vikings Defense to play. The Vikings Defense scored 14 points last time they played Cutler and the Bears...while the Vikings haven't been the same team as of late this game truly is a toss up. Based on how Jared Allen and Crew do tomorrow will decide who plays the Weiner Dogz in GFFL Bowl V as well as who becomes the 7th franchise to make a championship appearance and join the U.Gators('05,'06,'07), C.Falcons('07,'08), Panthers('06), Kings('05), Ducks('08), and Weiner Dogz('09).

Weiner Dogz going to the Bowl

The Weiner Dogz are going to GFFL Bowl V on the back of Jonathan Stewart in a true cinderella story. This is the franchises' first championship appearance after upsetting both the heavily favored U.Gators and the higher seeded Ducks. The Weiner Dogz hope to get SJAX back in the pursuit of a championship next week. More to come on this team and whoever makes it out of the Rayz and Classics in an article called Road to the Bowl. The Weiner Dogz are the lowest seeded team to make the GFFL Bowl since 2006 when the 5th seeded Rockets lost to the 2 seed U.Gators.

If the Weiner Dogz are to become champions they could really use DeAngelo sitting another game.

4. Weiner Dogz At 2. Ducks (post season rematch)

All time head to head regular season 1-1

Post Season head to head 1-0 Ducks

Last year these two teams met in an epic Divisional Round game ending with a Ducks win 116-108 behind DeAngelo Williams 4 td game. With DWill questionable this one could go the other way.

Weiner Dogz 18-10 (2-1)

2008 9-5 3rd in NFL...Lost Divisional

2009 9-5 2nd in West...???

The Weiner Dogz have put up back to back successful season somehow with luck that rivals that of the Rayz. Wildcard Weekend their luck was on display in a huge upset against the U.Gators where Roethlisberger went for 503 yards and JSTEW somehow had the game of his career that no one expected. The luck could come again if DWILL stays out the Weiner Dogz could make their first ever title game and defeat their biggest rival the Ducks.

Probable Starters
QB Roethlisberger
HB S.Jackson
HB Stewart
HB/WR Calv. Johnson
WR Welker
WR Austin
TE Witten
D Chargers
K Mare

Keys to Win: DWILL Sits and JSTEW continues his success...Roethlisberger and Austin put up some big numbers. It's gonna be tough but if DWILL sits the chances of another Weiner Dog upset grows.

What could do them in: If DWILL plays they don't have a number two runningback and their chances would pretty much realistically be done.

Ducks

2006 6-8-1 3rd in Division 1... NONE

2007 3-10-1 4th in Division 2...NONE

2008 10-4 1st in AFL...Lost GFFL BOWL IV

2009 9-5 1st in Central...???

The Ducks once the laughing stock of the league have turned into a powerhouse, one win away from their 2nd GFFL Bowl in 2 years, this year they have their sites set on winning this one. The only team left with championship experience may very well become the third ever team to win a GFFL Title.

Probable Starters

QB Rodgers
HB Charles
HB Snelling
HB/WR S.Smith
WR Fitzgerald
WR Marshall
TE Gates
D Saints
K Feely

Keys to win: DeAngelo Williams playing...whether or not he has a good game it doesn't matter if DWILL sits JSTEW is capable of tearing it up again for the W.Dogz. The Ducks should still put up pretty good numbers without a healthy DWILL but their key to win is either Snelling or Charles stepping up in DWILL's place.

What Could do them in: DWILL sits this game gets very interesting...if DWill doesn't play that could easily do them in combined with one average performance from the Duck's receivers.

Let's be honest the Weiner Dogz have no business being here, they won in the luckiest performance I have ever seen, but if DWILL doesn't play and they have a little luck left maybe its enough to get them to GFFL Bowl V. If DWILL plays I take the Ducks but if he doesn't then there's no denying the W.Dogz luck and I'll take them.

6. Ochocinco AT 1. Rayz (A game settled on Christmas)

All time head to head 1-1

All time head to head in postseason 0-0

These two teams are evenly matched in history and we should see a very close game in their first playoff match up.

Ochocinco 16-11-1 (1-1)

History

2008 8-6 2nd in AFL...L Wildcard to 4. W.Dogz

2009 8-5-1 2nd in Central... ???

Ochocinco has been in the GFFL for two years and has made the playoffs in back to back years. In 2008 they were one and done but thanks to a favorable match up against the 3. Mountaineers 80 points was enough to advance. They now stand a win away from the franchises first championship appearance.

Probable Starters

QB Brady
HB C.Johnson
HB Jacobs
HB/WR Crabtree
WR V.Jackson
WR Ochocinco
TE Gonzalez
D Vikings
K Gostkowski

Keys to Win: To get into the 100's this team needs a big game from CJ bottom line even last week with their receivers having pretty good games its obvious his title hopes are tied to 4.24.

What could do him in: If Chris is just average he's in trouble. Brady has some injuries and hasn't looked like the same QB. Jacobs is a mystery as he watched Bradshaw have a huge game, and his flex is a wildcard. This isn't the most complete team due to the RB2 and flex and sometimes dissappearing receivers, but fantasy is won with your studs there is no bigger stud than CJ as I said before CJ goes Christian goes, CJ slowed Christian's title hopes are slowed.

Rayz 16-12 (0-0)

2008 5-9* 4th in NFL...NONE

2009 11-3 1st in East...???

*= taking over for Lawson that season

Taylor Ray took over last season with a dream of taking the down trodden franchise to the playoffs. Well this year has been nothing short of magnificent. When people talk about dream seasons this has to be the top of the list. A team not many had penciled into the playoffs and many still doubted after a 5-0 start due to a mass amount of luck and not too many studs on the team has found their way to the #1 seed. This team has been so lucky Eagles D 37 points, Mendenhall sucks all year Rayz acquire him instant stud, Rayz acquire Benson preseason as an after thought in the Greg Jennings trade he's having a career year, and most recently picked up Harrison who scored 47 points. While they did cool off as of late going 5-4 over the last 9 games the only way to end this dream season is with a title will it happen?

Probable Starters
QB Rivers
HB Benson
HB Mendenhall
HB/WR Harrison
WR Colston
WR Ward
TE Clark
D Giants
K Kaeding

Keys to win: This team scored 132 last week on their bye not exactly loaded with studs but a very complete team. If his players keep doing what they've been doing he should be able to hold off Ochocinco.

What could do them in: Saints or Colts sitting players or pulling them early could be a dagger to this squad. The Luck could run out turning Benson Mendenhall and Harrison back into the proverbial pumpkins they looked to be in preseason. So bottom line the only way this team fails if the luck has finally run out.

This is a tough one to pick between two of my friends and two very different fantasy teams. You have the superstar led Ochocinco against the complete team Rayz. Christmas day is gonna be insanely impactful on this game CJ Rivers VJAX and Kaeding all playing I'm picking the Rayz in a very close game

U.Gators continue to rake picks after shocking loss

U.Gators moved Frank Gore for a 1st rounder (4th overall) and a 5th rounder in 2011.

The Unbeaten Gators now have 5 first round picks and could fill their whole starting line up in the first round come June.

As for now though the rest of the week turns to Final 4 coverage starting with the 6 seed Ochocinco later this afternoon.

GFFL BOWL History

GFFL BOWL I

U.Gators VS Phins

Unbeaten Gators won the first ever GFFL Championship over the Dolphins A look back to 2005. The Unbeaten Gators in the first year of the GFFL narrowly missed an undefeated season losing only once to the Dolphins but other than that ran through the league on the way to becoming the first champion.

GFFL BOWL II

U.Gators VS Rockets

Unbeaten Gators won 2nd GFFL Championship over Rockets... Look back to 2006 The Gators 12-3 were well on their way to a Unbeaten Gator-Gator show down but the Rockets upset them in the divisional round on their way to being destroyed in the championship game to the Unbeaten Gators. The Unbeaten Gators become the first team to repeat in the GFFL.

GFFL BOWL III

C.Falcons VS U.Gators

Carolina Falcons won the 3rd GFFL Championship over the Unbeaten Gators. Look Back to 2007 The Unbeaten Gators posted a 12-1-1 record and were on their way to 3 peating over the 7-7 C.Falcons but instead were shocked as even though they topped 100 points they were upset as the Carolina Falcons claimed their franchises first championship.

GFFL BOWL IV

C.Falcons VS Ducks

The Carolina Falcons won the 4th GFFL Championship over the surprising Ducks. Look Back to 2008 The 1st year in GFFL history the Unbeaten Gators failed to make the championship game losing in the divisional round to the Carolina Falcons and giving way to a new dynasty as the league watched the Carolina Falcons go on to be the 2nd team in GFFL history to repeat as champions.

Deangelo Williams' day off cost U.Gators in Wildcard

Unbelievable even after Roethlisbergers huge day I still went into sunday night with a 4 point lead Peterson VS J.Stewart...well Deangelo goes down I get a little nervous Peterson scores up by 10 then Stewart gets two tds and times winding down Peterson catches a 50+ yard screen pass and looks like he'll score to give me a win but gets stopped barely cause Peterson isn't the same back he was so hope is still alive maybe they'll run it in with Peterson after Favre gets them closer maybe they'll throw it to Peterson....first play after that Favre throws an old man devastating pick and there goes the U.Gators season now there's just waiting for next year and covering the rest of this year.... Roethlisberger 32, Stewart 23 against the Vikes williams wall... welcome to the Divisional Round...I'll be throwing up in the corner

Final 4

6. Ochocinco At 1. Rayz

4. W.Dogz At 2. Ducks

Answering the GFFL questions again

1. Can the Carolina Falcons make history and become the first team in GFFL History to 3-peat?

- Nope, and it wasn't even close, a year of bad drafting and riddled with injuries (Westbrook) and suspensions (Lynch) and players not living up to the hype (R.Williams) they have put together a horrible 3-8-1 record and have some serious rebuilding to do.

2. Will the Unbeaten Gators make their 4th championship appearance in 5 years?

- It's a possibility with one of the best teams I've ever built and favorable playoff matchups for the majority of the line up I feel I have as good a chance as ever to make another championship appearance and win my third GFFL title.

3. Can the Kings find their way back into the playoffs after a 3 year hiatus?

- Nope, make it 4 years somehow his team of studs have only put up a 4-7-1 record so far and didn't even come close to a playoff bid. Well as always for the Kings next year is on the horizon.

4. Have the Panthers put together a roster capable of getting him to his 2nd ever championship appearance?

- This is a loaded question, with the point leading roster they obviously did put together a championship roster I don't know what happened but at 5-7 with two losses to the lowly Princesses they won't have a shot at that 2nd championship appearance.

5. Can any of the expansion teams (P.Cobras, A.Joes, Heels, Mountaineers) legitimately compete for the 2009 crown?

- Well the Purple Cobras are 2-10, the A.Joes quit but on the other hand the Mountaineers have clinched (though some would say luck had a tremendous amount to do with it) and the Heels are fighting for a playoff spot, but the answer for now is no I don't see either of these teams legitimately competing for the crown.

6. If the Rayz are in the mix come trade deadline would they part with some of their bounty of draft picks to pull a blockbuster deal?

- That they did and they definitely were in the mix now at 10-2 they made a deal to get Rivers and Barber involving picks we'll see if it works in the playoffs.

7. The Ducks were once one of the worst franchises in GFFL history but after going all the way to the championship game last year what's in store for '09?

- More of the same they have responded with an 8-4 record and a very good chance at winning the crown after giving up a 1st for some of the King's roster.

8. Who will be this years surprise team a la '08 Ducks and W.Dogz?

- Definitely the Rayz and Mountaineers I don't think even they had themselves going 10-2 and 8-4 respectively will the dream finally end in the playoffs though.

9. Who will have the most helmets in the 6 team draft lottery?

- Surprisingly based on trades it will be either the U.Gators or Kings most likely.

10. Has the switch to a 12 team league made the gap of talent wide enough from the good to the average to the bad teams that we might see our first undefeated or winless season?

- No but very close to the winless with the Average Joes/Princesses two monster fluke Brees games from being winless. As for the Rayz 10-2 they had all the luck it would take to go undefeated just not much of the talent if they could have put up respectable scores in their two losses they could very well be 12-0 but in that case if some of their opponents would have put up respectable scores he'd have more losses and if Jake Delhomme doesn't buffer the Eagles D point score then the undefeated thing never starts.

A Look At the current Lottery ball leaders

1. U.Gators from Purple Cobras (2-10)

2. Kings from Princesses (2-10)

3. Carolina Falcons (3-8-1)

4. Purple Cobras from Kings (4-7-1)

5. Panthers 5-7

6. Ochocinco 6-5-1

Playoff Scenarios Week 13

Playoff Scenarios

Rayz clinch one seed with a win OR with Mountaineers and W.Dogz loss

Mountaineers clinch West Division with win AND W.Dogz loss (meaning guaranteed 1,2, or 3)

Weiner Dogz clinch playoff spot with win OR with Ochocinco loss

Ducks clinch Central with win over Heels this week and 1,2, or 3 seed

Heels clinch playoff spot with win AND Ochocinco loss

Unbeaten Gators clinch playoff spot with win OR Ochocinco AND Heels loss

Ochocinco can't clinch anything this week but is still alive

Elemination possibilities

Ochocinco can be eleminated with loss AND Heels win AND U.Gators win

Rayz Clinch East Division and 1 or 2 seed; Princesses End Losing Streak

The Rayz are the only team who have clinched anything so far. With the win over the U.Gators they have clinched the Division and a 1 or 2 seed. Most likely they have clinched the one seed unless they lose out and the W.Dogz win out with the Mountaineers losing one game.

Realistically the only seed up for grabs (barring the C.Falcons waking up and actually beating somebody or the Princesses making it two in a row) is the 6th seed between the Heels and Ochocinco who conveniently play in week 14. Coming into the game their records will most likely be Heels 7-6 and Ochocinco 7-5-1 in an overly hyped elemination game.

Prediction for Playoffs

Wildcard

3. Mountaineers 9-5 1. Rayz 11-3
6. Ochocinco 8-5-1

4. U.Gators 9-4-1 2. Ducks 10-4
5. W.Dogz 9-5

Scratch that

I've been so in to mine and tray's game that I didn't realize how close the W.Dogz and Mountaineers game really is this one could go either way and I'd say the Mountaineers are favored so put that champagne on ice and we'll have to see what happens

Weiner Dogz Clinch Western Division; Rayz Clinch Playoff Spot

The Weiner Dogz with their win over the Mountaineers have won the West Division and have guaranteed that they will have either the 1,2, or 3 seed in playoffs.

The Rayz have clinched a playoff spot due to Ochocinco's and Mountaineers' loss if they can beat the U.Gators they will clinch the East Division.

Format for the lottery and how to get an added helmet

The Draft Lottery will be held on Divisional Sunday this year.

The worst record will receive 9 helmets in the lotto
2nd worst - 7 helmets
3rd worst - 5 helmets
4th worst - 3 helmets
5th worst - 2 helmets
6th worst - 1 helmet

There is a way to earn extra helmets for the lottery the non playoff team that scores the most points week 15-17 will get three extra helmets, 2nd highest score will get 2 helmets

Game Impacts (Playoff Scenarios)

First here are the Playoff Clinching Scenarios

Rayz Scenarios

If Rayz win they clinch a playoff spot and the East Division

If Rayz win and Ducks lose they clinch the East Division and a first round bye

If Rayz lose but Instant Classics lose then the Rayz clinch a playoff spot

Weiner Dogz Scenarios

If W.Dogz win and Instant Classics lose and Heels lose then they clinch a playoff spot

Unbeaten Gators Scenarios

If U.Gators win and Instant Classics lose then they clinch a playoff spot barring the points tie breaker.

Mountaineers Scenarios

If Mountaineers win and Heels lose they clinch a playoff spot

Game looks
Unbeaten Gators 7-3-1 at Rayz 9-2

This is pretty much for the East Division if Rayz win they take it, if the U.Gators win then they are a half game back and need the Rayz to falter once more or tie while they win out.

Princesses 1-10 at Panthers 5-6

The Princesses want to rid themselves of this losing streak but the Panthers need this game to keep their hopes alive as they head into two games vs the Rayz and U.Gators after this one.

Ducks 7-4 at Instant Classics 6-4-1

If the Ducks win they pretty much lock up the Central as they'd take a 1 and a half game lead heading into the last two games. With a loss the Instant Classics playoff hopes start to get in jeopardy at 6-5-1 with the Heels and Panthers close behind.

Heels 6-5 at P.Cobras 2-9

If the Heels can win here and the Instant Classics falter the Heels become in the driver seat and in control of their own playoff destiny.

Mountaineers 7-4 at W.Dogz 8-3

If the W.Dogz win here the West is pretty much won, but if the Mountaineers win here the division race is reopened up kind of and they get a huge boost to their playoff chances.

Kings 3-7-1 at C.Falcons 3-7-1

No playoff implications

Ronnie Brown to the Princesses

Princesses Get: HB Ronnie Brown

Panthers Get: WR Santonio Holmes and a 5th rounder

The Princesses' keepers have gotten strides better than before and now looks to be Brees, Ronnie Brown, and Moreno

Rivers and MB3 and 4th rd. for Slaton and a 1st rd.

Well with around 45 minutes to go in trade deadline the Rayz have moved Slaton and a 1st rounder (Kings) for Rivers, MB3, and a 4th rounder. I think this is an unbelievable trade for the Purple Cobras and their rebuilding plan. They now have Slaton, T.Jones, and either Sidney Rice or MSW and now they'll have a top 6 pick. As for the Rayz they're getting ready for the playoffs but I don't see it as a huge upgrade Jerry Jones has been clamoring for Felix Jones to get more involved hurting MB3's value but Rivers is an upgrade at QB. If any trades are gonna get done you guys better hurry. Dylan has the 4g going in the car on the way to Asheville so we'll be here for the next two hours or so to put through trades and write up on the trade deadline.

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Rivers Deal to happen tomorrow?

Rumors Swirl of a Slaton + 1st rounder for Rivers and Barber...we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Brees on the move

WOW...the Princesses just moved HB Reggie Bush, a 1st rounder, 3rd rounder, and 7th rounder for Drew Brees.

Boldin goes for U.Gators 3rd round pick

The Unbeaten Gators have now completed three trades this deadline week and have now moved their third for Boldin to add to the Cutler trade and the offseason huge Peterson trade. Trade deadline is fast approaching and Dylan has apparently been trying to move Brees.

Lee Evans and Hines Ward go to Rayz for 6th rounder

The combination of Lee Evans and Hines Ward was traded to the Rayz from the Kings for a 6th rounder.

It's now approximately 19 and a 1/2 hours until trade deadline ends so if you want to get something done you better get the texts or phone lines burning.

A Look at the fallen and their hopes for 2010

This list includes a 2 time defending champion, an all time loss record setter, a new young franchise, and one of the most aggressive owners in league history.

The Carolina Falcons coming off 4 straight playoff appearances and 2 straight championships have completely self destructed this year. At 3-7-1 no one knows the exact reason why but the C.Falcons have rarely been competitive this year. Combine that with the fact his only legitimate stud is HB Michael Turner and it could be a while before this team is back to the title game unless Brandon rededicates himself to being a top notch team.

The Kings had a championship caliber squad this was suppose to be their year for a title the playoffs were a lock but now they sit here at 3-7-1 wondering what happened. This is their 4th consecutive year of missing the playoffs but they have put together a team of super keepers with QB Brees, HB A.Peterson, HB MJD for 2010 only problem for Dylan is his first pick isn't until the 6th round but we'll see if this strategy works and is good enough to finally get him back to the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

The Purple Cobras, former Titans, had a rough comeback into the league currently at 2-9 but the future is not too bleak while they won't transform into a stud team over night it's not crazy to think this team could build around QB Rivers, HB T.Jones, and WR MSW or Rice and find a way to enter the 2010 dance only problem is they're gonna have to do it without their 1st round pick which idk if it was worth Thomas Jones as it looks likely he could have gotten a Gore, Marshall, or Forte with the pick but we'll see.

The Princesses well the best thing they did this year is to get back into the league taking over Josh's floundering team just in time to reset the consecutive loss streak at 10. I'm not predicting a turn around for the Princesses in 2010 but they will have every opportunity as they have a very good shot at grabbing the first pick overall. The keepers of Moreno, S.Holmes, and Flacco would be nice to get upgraded but they're workable.

Trade Deadline Fast Approaching (Cutler goes for an 8th)

Deals have to be in and processed by 12 p.m. I will be traveling on Wednesday but if you guys do work out any deals or I do league members Taylor Ray or Christian Martin will be putting them through using my user name and league manager powers.

Some big deals have already been made such as the Dylan firesale and the Peterson offseason trade but another trade has gone through today the Princesses will be sending the U. Gators Jay Cutler for an 8th rounder and Chad Henne.

Currently Talk I've heard from the following teams are that these players are on the table. Here's a look at some of the bigger names. All wanting picks.

WR Anquan Boldin - C.Falcons

WR MSW or Rice - Purple Cobras

HB Hightower - Princesses

HB McFadden - U.Gators

TE Boss - Kings

WR Garcon - Kings

WR Massaquoi - Kings

HB R. Bush - Princesses

HB Westbrook - C.Falcons

QB Romo - C.Falcons

WR Burleson - P.Cobras

HB Marion Barber - P.Cobras

A Block Buster Deal to End all Block Buster Deals

************This trade will go into effect the day after the Fantasy Bowl V**************

In what resembles a Herschel Walker type deal the U.Gators and the Kings have come to an agreement that will send superstar runningback Adrian Peterson to the Kings on January 4th, 2010.

U.Gators Receive: HB Ray Rice, 1st Rounder (Purple Cobras), 1st Rounder (Ducks), 3rd Rounder and 4th Rounder in 2010. 1st Rounder, 3rd Rounder in 2011. 1st Rounder, 3rd Rounder in 2012, 1st Rounder and 3rd Rounder in 2013, and a 1st Rounder in 2014.

Final Tally: Ray Rice, 6 first rounders, 4 3rd Rounders, and 1 4th Rounder.

Kings Receive: HB A.Peterson

As much as I love Adrian Peterson and feel that he will lead me to my 3rd GFFL Championship this year this was just too much to pass up. I hope to use these picks in combination with whoever I decide to keep from my star studded team to go on a dynastic run. While this trade has some risk to it as I think Peterson will continue to be a stud for at least the next 5 years I believe this trade will add championship trophies to the U.Gators' case and that's what it's all about my friends.

Playoff Picture

Locks

Rayz (8-2) - Well the good thing about being a lock is a loss more than likely won't throw you out of it. While the surprising loss to the Mountaineers hurts his division title chances and gives the U.Gators an opening for a showdown, it won't affect his playoff chances 8 wins should be no doubt good enough to be in as Taylor Ray will make his first playoff appearance.

W.Dogz(7-3) - Another lock that lost, but with three ridiculously easy match ups coming up (Purple Cobras, Mountaineers, and Carolina Falcons) they should win all 3 of those and should definitely have no problem winning at least one I think this team will win the West easily the only question is will they be good enough to get a first round bye.

Ochocinco (6-3-1) - A new addition to the locks, while a loss to the Princesses could have really put some pressure on this team coming off the win they should be fine they have a bit tougher schedule then most but they do have a for sure win against the Purple Cobras and with their talent they should win a lot more than that and it should come down to the game VS the Ducks to see who takes the Central either way Ochocinco will be in.

U.Gators (6-3-1) - Coming off a dogfight win against the Kings, this team has all but punched their ticket to the playoffs with two cupcake games left one against the C.Falcons and one against the Princesses the only question is can they steal the East Division their showdown with the Rayz is a week away.

Ducks (6-4) - With a soft schedule coming up and a newly power filled line up the Ducks are a lock to make it the only question is will it be them or Ochocinco winning the Central?

Good Chance

Mountaineers (7-3) - Just need to get lucky one more time and they're pretty much in as they own the tiebreaker over the Heels and Panthers the only way I see this team getting ousted is if the Panthers win out and he loses out.

Looks good chance but on further review not so good

Heels (6-4) - Good record but not so good team especially after the Brady trade I couldn't see this team making the playoffs their schedule is strong it was a good first season for the Heels but it won't include the postseason.

Longshot but Great team

Panthers (4-6) - If the Mountaineers didn't own the tiebreaker over them I'd actually think they had a pretty good shot but with the Mountaineers still being the Mountaineers if they can find a way to lose out and the Panthers can win out including huge games against the Rayz and U.Gators than the Panthers could make the postseason and once there could shock the GFFL.

Firesale

Wow...that was quick...that's what she said... hours after getting beat and all but mathematically out of it, the Kings began their firesale early in the morning they moved their soon to be 32 year old flex runningback Thomas Jones for a steal of a deal getting both a 1st and 3rd rounder from the Purple Cobras a lottery team who I guess feels that T.Jones has one more solid year in him next year and will have him be their keeper and center of their team. Then he proceeded to move Steve Smith, Antonio Gates, D Saints, and Jammaal Charles while the Ducks overpaid giving a 1st for this group I really like this trade a whole lot for both teams. The Kings of course get in gear for next year now having two first round picks but this is HUGE for the Ducks and rids them of their former weaknesses of having no tight end, a spotty flex play, and spotty number 2 running back. Now they have a team that could legitimately compete for the title and be considered championship caliber. The now stud line up is listed below so if the Ducks end your season be sure to blame the Kings and their horrible season as well.

QB Rodgers
HB D.Williams
HB Charles
HB/WR S.Smith
WR Fitzgerald
WR Marshall
TE Gates
D Saints

New York Princesses reenter the league

The New York Princesses went 4-10 in 2008 after a 3-1 start, their last game in the league was a week 14 72-71 win over the Rayz, they set the record for most consecutive losses, but now they're back. The former Average Joes franchise ends with the worst winning percentage in league history.

At first look the team is awful but it is not in as bad shape if you look closely. They're guaranteed to have a top 6 pick in the draft and should have the most chance for the number one pick in the lottery. The keepers may not be too bad with some sort of Flacco, Moreno, and Holmes combo so this team can be turned around its just gonna take a lot of work.

Average Joes' Owner hands in resignation

Citing a horrible team and closing in on the all time consecutive loss record Josh Phillips has quit and relinquished control of his 1-8 team. This will have no barrings or impact on Johhny or the Purple Cobras' tenure in the league. Josh Phillips will be replaced ironically by the owner who currently holds the record for consecutive losses Rebekah Mattox. She will be allowed to change the teams name. Josh joins the likes of Daniel Lawson becoming only the 2nd owner in GFFL history to quit the league.

Maybe the only move that could help this battering franchise was a change in ownership, Taylor Ray took over a team midseason last year and has now become a fixture in the league and one of its most vital members and he has found great success in his first full year so far jumping to an 8-1 record. So maybe the former Average Joes will be turned around next year.

The new name has not been announced yet but when it is it'll be posted here.

More post to follow.

Playoff Picture

It's gotten to a point where the playoff picture is starting to really take shape and every game becomes huge for those trying to get in. While no one has clinched yet you can still see who are locks already based on record, who have the solid chances, who are on the bubble, the long shots, and the no chances.
Just to clarify the 3 division winners make the playoffs followed by 3 wildcards

Locks

Rayz (8-1) - Based on looking at the schedule 8 wins should be a no doubt definite in so the only question now is do they hold onto the division and can they hold onto that number 1 seed. They have a hard stretch coming up soon with 3 straight games against the Panthers, Ochocinco, and division rival U.Gators.

Weiner Dogz (7-2) - This is the one team I'll say already has the division locked up so the Weiner Dogz will either be a 1,2, or 3 seed for sure, I know the Mountaineers only trail by a game but I don't see the Mountaineers winning another game.

Solid Bets

Ochocinco (5-3-1) - Based on his current record I couldn't quite put him in the locks yet but I think he will easily take the Central Division putting him in line for a 3 seed and maybe even a 2 or a 1 seed.

Unbeaten Gators (5-3-1) - Trailing the Rayz by 2.5 games with 5 to go and a one of the games being against the Rayz the division is still up for grabs but regardless I think my U.Gators will have no problem making the playoffs and snagging the 4 seed if I can't make a play for the division.

Bubble

Mountaineers (6-3) - They need to get lucky twice more in 5 games if they want to be a sure lock but I think 7-7 will get you in the playoffs this year I just don't know if this team can win another game their roster not their record is why they are in the Bubble column.

Ducks (5-4) - Out of the three bubble teams I'll say the Ducks have the most talented roster and I think they will find their way back to the playoffs barring any pitfalls you should see this team moving into the solid bets maybe by next week.

Heels (5-4) - After going 3-0 they have dropped 4 of their last 6 and face a big game against the 7-2 W.Dogz a win would really help this team position itself but even with a loss they still have a pretty good shot as their main competition for a playoff spot are the Mountaineers or one of the long shots(like a King or Panther).

Long Shots

Panthers (3-6) - Losing that game to the W.Dogz was a huge blow but if any team has the talent to win out or go 4-1 and get back into the race they do.

Kings (2-6-1) - If they can beat the U.Gators this week a small small small glimmer of hope will be there for a magical run while this team is talented it is a very tall order for them to beat out their other long shot counterpart let alone steal a position from one of the bubble teams but we will see.

No Shots

Carolina Falcons (3-5-1) - A better record than both of the long shots but their team just doesn't measure up as one capable of climbing back into the race.

Purple Cobras (2-7) - Very Dangerous team when it comes to upsets but no way they find a way into the playoffs.

Average Joes (1-8) - They could be mathematically eliminated in a week no chance this team wins another game, the only thing they should win this year is the draft pick lottery.

Here's my Projected playoff bracket as of today
1. U.Gators

2. Ochocinco

3. W.Dogz
6. Panthers

4. Rayz
5. Ducks

Average Joes lose 8th in a row close in on worst record

The Average Joes are having a miserable season after shocking the Panthers in the first week of the season they have gone on to lose 8 consecutive games. If they lose to Ochocinco this Sunday they will tie the Princesses 2008 record of 9 straight losses, but that's not all the 2005 worst record of all time Wil Macabee's Gators in the first year of the GFFL went 3-12 is in jeopardy and could be "topped" by the Joes not to mention the least amount of points in a season record by the Rockets (1,058) in 2008 should also be broken by the Joes. All you can do if you're Josh is take solace in the fact that the former league laughing stock Ducks went all the way to the championship game last year and are in good position at 5-4 to make a run at back to back playoff appearances.

Around the league

East

- If the Rayz can pull off a win tonight against the C.Falcons they will be 8-1 and based on my end projections for the season 8 wins should be an automatic in for the playoffs so if your Tray you turn your attention to trying to sow up the division and get home field advantage throughout.

- The U.Gators are coming on strong having won 4 of their last 5 games and coming off a game they scored 112 points without their franchise player Peterson. They should get to the playoffs easily the only question is can they make a run at the Rayz for the division at 2.5 games back with 5 games to go but they do get a game against the Rayz.

- Two different tales for this post, if the Panthers win tonight to get to 4-5 I have no doubt they will claw their way into the playoffs now if they're 3-6 I still have faith in this team as I think 7 wins will put you in the tiebreaker for a 6 seed this year and I think this team has the talent to go 4-1 or better in their final 5, but its gonna be a whole lot tougher if they don't get this win tonight.

- The A.Joes have already been covered enough but one more tidbit sitting on 27 points with Moreno and Holmes to go its unlikely but they still could set a new scoring low record beating the Ducks 33 points in '06 when we only had 8 starting positions instead of 9.

Central

- Ochocinco at 5-3-1 is the new leader in the Central Division and I don't expect that to change from here to the end of the regular season. While this team has a whole at tightend and their flex play it is still one of the better teams in the league and one with just as much chance to bring home the title as anyone.

- Heels got crushed this past sunday and since their 3-0 start they have crashed to 5-4 and are one of those bubble teams on whether they'll be in or out of the playoffs come December they could take a huge step forward if they can beat the W.Dogz(6-3) this weekend.

- The Ducks got a huge win over the Kings this weekend and I think they will ride Deangelo to back to back playoff appearances as long as they win their gimme games.

- The Purple Cobras won the battle of the terrible teams but hey if they can start scoring 90+ each week if they could win out........nah but I do think this a team that could pull off some upsets that have playoff implications if they keep putting as much into it as they do.

West

- The Mountaineers are 6-3 and all they need to do to create an unbelievably unexpected season is to get lucky twice more, I don't see it happening but I'd love to see them prove me wrong and bring one of the worst rosters in the league into the playoffs.

- If the W.Dogz win tonight and get to 7-2 they will be on their way to their first division title even if they don't I think they get their 1st division title thanks in large part to a guy name Miles but hey once you get in the dance it doesn't matter how you got there just whether you can dance to the finals or not.

- How the mighty have fallen the two time defending champ barring an upset of Taylor Ray tonight will have slipped to 3-5-1 and not having a dominant dominant roster this year I can't see them punching a ticket to the playoffs in any scenario so the championship run ends at 2 barring a miracle.

- The biggest disappointment in the league, with one of the most talented rosters he's ever had and putting more time in it than ever the Kings unless they can win out which based on their bad luck this year is unlikely will miss the playoffs for the 4th consecutive year while this roster definitely has the talent to win out It would be the story of the year if it happened and with a game against the red hot U.Gators who have Peterson going against Detroit the chance could be over before it begins.

So there's your look inside the GFFL as we enter the homestretch of the regular season.

The Fall of a KINGdom

The season that started off with championship aspirations has quickly turned into a nightmare. Trading away the future for hopes of one special year has backfired fast on the Jerry Jones of the league Dylan Gibson. To have a good shot at the playoffs he needs to win at least 5 out of the last 6 games which would put him at 7-6-1 which may be good enough to barely squeeze out a playoff spot. So to securely have a playoff spot he needs to go 6-0 over the last 6 games. Call me crazy but I still believe in him to make the dance. His last 6 games are against the Ducks (4-4) should be won, against the U.Gators (4-3-1) with Schaub and Andre on a bye he might have a shot but Peterson is playing Detroit so this ones gonna be tough, Average Joes (1-6 monday night game still pending) easily winnable, against the two time defending league champions C.Falcons (3-4-1) could go either way, Mountaineers (5-2), and W.Dogz 6-2 both winnable. So as of now I say the Kings will be in come December but they can't afford to blow any game and every game has become a must win with the margin of error at 1 game. If they lose two before the trade deadline I would advise a fire sale for draft picks to try to salvage the future.

Inside look at the playoff picture

7 Games to go in the regular season

With that the only lock so far of making the playoffs is the Rayz while I still don't think they'll win the division they are a lock to be in the playoffs at 6-1 cause even with the melt down I predicted they should still get to 9 wins or so.

East

The division winner will be either the Rayz or the U.Gators (who just got a lot stronger with the addition of andre), the Panthers have to get things turned around quick but even at 2-5 I still see them as legitimate wildcard contenders.

Central

The weakest division will be won by either the Heels or Ochocinco now I know the Ducks are 4-3 but I see them falling off I don't particularly like any of the teams in this division but I think Ochocinco will come out on top, I'm not sure that this division will produce one of the three wildcard teams.

West

The backwards West the W.Dogz and Mountaineers both have to fall off hard soon it just has to happen their rosters are horrible and I see the C.Falcons winning this division and the Kings snagging a wildcard.

So if I had to guess the playoff picture will be

3. Ochocinco 1. U.Gators
6. Kings

4. Rayz 2. C.Falcons
5. Panthers

U.Gators-Kings complete blockbuster deal

Kevin Smith dealt

Heels Get: HB Kevin Smith and WR Kevin Walter

U. Gators Get: HB Pierre Thomas and a 4th rounder

Willing to listen to offers for the number 1 quarterback in fantasy

I'm willing to listen to offers for Matt Schaub who leads all of fantasy in points it's gonna take a pretty big package (that's what she said) but I am willing to move him if anyone is interested send me a text at 473-4542.

Weiner Dogz grab key win, end Rayz pursuit of perfection

The Weiner Dogz pulled off a big win and at 4-2 have put themselves in a tie atop the West Division. This is a win that could pay large dividends down the road when it comes to making the playoffs or not. Plus with the Kings turning things around with their vaunted line up and now only a game and a half back every game counts if they want to pull off winning this division.

As for the Rayz the slip to 5-1 could be the start of a fatal downward spiral with the Kings coming up next and the U. Gators nipping at their heels the Rayz one loss is a big one with games still left to play against the Kings, Panthers, Heels, U. Gators, Ochocinco, and the C.Falcons it may be tough for them to find a spot in the playoffs let alone find a way to hold onto this division.

Along with the Weiner Dogz another surprise team of '08, the Ducks got a big victory and they should be able to take care of business against the Joes which would put them at 4-3 and position themselves for a huge showdown against the Weiner Dogz.

The Mountaineers sitting at 4-2 need to find a way to piece together some more upset wins cause it looks like the Kings and Carolina Falcons have woken up.

The Panthers and Ochocinco had bad losses this weekend and now they are matched up this weekend and the loser may have a very hard time clawing their way back into the playoff picture.

My NFL Season Picks review so far good and bad

The Good
My NFC North Picks look perfect so far with the Vikes rolling and the Bears following close behind. http://gibsonfantasyfootball.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-nfl-season-picks-nfc-north-and-afc.html

My AFC North looks great had the Ravens stealing the crown from the Steelers and the Bengals finishing in 2nd while the Bengals are in 1st right now coming off a win against the Ravens I don't see them winning the division over the Ravens (sorry christian) but playoffs could come.

My Titans description of last years season being a fluke seems 100 times more true now.

My talk of Peyton making this team make the playoffs was right but they'll take the division which I didn't pick.

NFC South perfection called the Saints as an offensive powerhouse to win the crown and had the Falcons finishing a close second looks great so far.http://gibsonfantasyfootball.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-picks-nfc-south-and-afc-south.html

AFC East called Henne starting even though it was due to injury, called for the Pats and Jets to finish one and two.

THE UGLY

Took the Cowboys in the NFC East, didn't have the Eagles or Giants making the playoffs yeah thats wrong.

Texans to win AFC South WRONG

Bills making it to 7-9 way wrong

Raiders 8-8 they'll be lucky to still be in the NFL by their 8th game.

Broncos 2-14 wow I'll admit I blew it hard on this pick but I still see them coming back to earth at some point they won't make the playoffs and you heard it hear first.

1/3 of the way through a look back at the top 10 questions entering the GFFL season

1. Can the Carolina Falcons make history and become the first team in GFFL History to 3-peat?

- Through 5 games the Carolina Falcons are 2-2-1, not a bad start good enough to be tied for a playoff spot. I'm gonna have to say no to this question though I don't see the Carolina Falcons making the playoffs let alone walking away with an unprecedented 3rd title. Turner did show some signs of life for him last week but his team is more than one stud away so great run but it ends in 2009.

2. Will the Unbeaten Gators make their 4th championship appearance in 5 years?

- Not the way the U. Gators expected to start the year, but they have remained 2nd point wise and have thrown some trades together that they now have a stud at every position and look primed to be a contender and I could even see claiming the one seed as the rest of the schedule other than a date with the Kings and Panthers seems pretty soft. So the answer is yes.

3. Can the Kings find their way back into the playoffs after a 3 year hiatus?

- Slow start at 1-3-1 but this team is stacked no way they don't make the playoffs win the west division and make a push for the title game come December.

4. Have the Panthers put together a roster capable of getting him to his 2nd ever championship appearance?

- Yes the leader in points by a good margin has no business being 2-3 but they'll get things turned around with those point outputs and are one of my three favorites to win the title this year along with the Kings and U.Gators.

5. Can any of the expansion teams (P.Cobras, A.Joes, Heels, Mountaineers) legitimately compete for the 2009 crown?

- The Heels had a strong start at 3-0 but as I predicted had a fall back down to earth, while they're line up isn't championship caliber at all he could still compete with Ochocinco for the division title in the Central. The Mountaineers 4-1 start is unbelievable and they'd be hard pressed to keep that up I don't see them making the playoffs. There was hope for the P.Cobras before they lost to the Rayz and dealt Andre as for the A. Joes they may be able to pull off some upsets this year at best.

6. If the Rayz are in the mix come trade deadline would they part with some of their bounty of draft picks to pull a blockbuster deal?

- Well a 1/3 of the way through he is very much in contention while his line up pales in comparison to others he is somehow 5-0 if he believes his team is a couple moves away from Kings, Panthers, U.Gators territory then he should go for it but if not he'd be wise to wait until 2010 when he'll have a bounty of picks and another shot at a strong year. If nothing changes about this team a big collapse should come very soon.

7. The Ducks were once one of the worst franchises in GFFL history but after going all the way to the championship game last year what's in store for '09?

- 2-3 is what's been in store so far and what led her to the title last year is what's killing her this year DeAngelo Williams while she has a top 5 QB and two top 10 receivers through this point the runningback position is killing her. That will have to be righted for her to find a way into this years six pack of playoff teams. I'll say they come close but don't make it to the dance this year.

8. Who will be this years surprise team a la '08 Ducks and W.Dogz?

- It has to be the Rayz the only difference is they are 100 times more of a surprise there's no bonafide stud on this team it just doesn't make sense but with a 5-0 record even a 3-6 or so crash like I'm predicting shouldn't keep him out of the playoffs but we'll see.

9. Who will have the most helmets in the 6 team draft lottery?

- Average Joes and Purple Cobras will fight it out but I say the Average Joes will have the best percent chance at the top pick in 2010.

10. Has the switch to a 12 team league made the gap of talent wide enough from the good to the average to the bad teams that we might see our first undefeated or winless season?

- Well through 5 weeks were down to one and that's the Rayz 5-0 and I've already made my thoughts public about their chances but hey we'll see my opinion you're gonna have to wait till next year to see someone make a legit push for perfection or imperfection.

Can the Rayz run the table?

You have to post this any time a team gets through its first 5 games unscathed (to hopefully jinx them the following week) to give them the recognition for doing so and looking ahead to see where and if this streak will end. However the easy answer with this case is yes the streak will end soon very soon. First off this team has no business being undefeated its best player is arguably a tight end they robbed the U. Gators in week 1 with a fluke defense, Peyton and Wayne didn't show up for the panthers in another win, and they won a game while scoring only 59 points.

So here's a look at the upcoming schedule Weiner Dogz easy game but I could see them losing, Kings who I think should slaughter the Rayz, Heels who they'll play without Benson or Bowe so I'll chalk that up as a loss. Then they get the C.Falcons a win, Mountaineers a win, before they hit the extremely hard schedule of Instant Classics a loss, the U. Gators a loss, Panthers a loss, then the A. Joes a win to get to 8-6.

So as I predicted the demise of the once 3-0 Heels who have now lost two straight, things will start to even out for the Rayz and it should happen soon talent and luck win in fantasy and the Rayz have no talent and they've used up all their luck early so while with a 5-0 start the playoffs is definitely reachable I'd be severely shocked to see this team win their division or get to double digit wins. And here's one better for you I'll say the 1-3-1 Kings will finish with a better record than the Rayz.

Heels and Ocho make a deal; Kings steal a stud

Heels receive : HB Portis and a 3rd rounder

Ocho receive: HB Jacobs and a 6th rounder

The Kings landed Andre for waiver wire fodder in yet another steal from one of the phillips twins they have now landed both of the Purple Cobras and Average Joes franchise players in Brees and Andre Johnson I don't know what else to say about that trade.

Upside down start to the year

The top 3 in the league in scoring

1. Panthers 392 - 10th in the league - (1-3) averaging almost 100 points a game this is unreal for a team and will surely get righted before the seasons out.

2. Ochocinco 382 - 6th in the league - (1-2-1) another huge scorer but only a half game better than the Panthers.

3. Unbeaten Gators 370 - 7th in the league - (1-2-1) the U. Gators the third best scorer but currently not in the top half of the league.

in comparison the top 4 teams in the league

1. Rayz 343 - this 4-0 start is so much luck his opponents are averaging 60 points against him and of course he had the Eagles D pull out week 1, then two weeks ago won despite a horrid 59 point output. The luck has to run out soon and when it does this team could crash. While 343 is not a bad scoring output taking away the Eagles monstrous game he's down there with the Heels.

2. Heels 317 - Same situation as the Rayz this team should fall back.

3. W. Dogz 344 - The W.Dogz may actually have some staying power in the weak west.

4. Mountaineers 305 - It's an enigma this team has three wins.

The hot starts won't totally evaporate but the top scorers will eventually rise up by the midpoint or so and the luck should balance out making for a great finish to the season and a race for the playoffs.

Report: Essick renigs on Brady deal

The Heels and Instant Classics came very close to completing a deal that would've sent Brady to Christian and Favre and a 2nd rounder to Essick. Apparently though the plug has been pulled and this deal will not be going down.

In other league news to have the championship trophy we want we still need $4 per person to make it happen give your money to either myself or Dylan.

Report: Brady to Instant Classics

Nothing is official yet it's supposed to happen at 10 tonight but the Instant Classics and Heels have reached an agreement to trade Brady for Favre and a 2nd round draft choice more on this trade to follow tomorrow

Kings further deplete their 2010 odds

3 Biggest Stories of the Week

So let's start with the Kings, in my opinion they badly screwed up on their last trade with myself, they got a great back in Gore but he won't be able to use him for three weeks (the Kings at 0-2-1 are in no position to wait for three weeks on a player) and after those three weeks pass if Coffee plays well enough which judging by his preseason he will. You may see Singletary go to a Running back by committee due to Gore's past injury proneness and wanting to keep Gore healthy for the playoffs not to mention Coffee can provide some good yardage in his own right. Dylan also received Steve Smith who looks down right putrid and with Delhomme's shaky QB play and the Panther's inability to do anything not to mention Steve looks like he may have lost a step and is in danger of becoming the other Steve Smith.
Now let's look at what he gave up, first off Randy Moss the big chip in this trade who I hope will pay instant dividends for me (he's leading the league in targets and you have to think with Welker back and Brady getting more and more on the same page he could be the number one receiver by years end) and leaves a gaping hole for Dylan at receiver, I received Kevin Smith who I believe may put up comparable stats to Gore when he comes back and I received a 6th round pick which now leaves Dylan with just one pick in the first 6 rounds (a 4th rounder).
I do think the Kings with Brees still have a very good chance of being competitive this year and finding a way to sneak into the playoffs his 2010 becomes even more shot.

Now to another big story in the league the Carolina Falcons who have been incredibly quiet on the trade fronts this year look to be in some serious trouble, barely getting to 1-1-1. Turner looks nothing like he did last year, Boldin is in a now struggling Arizona offense, Roy Williams in a spread the ball around O in Dallas, Westbrooks ailing and the Carolina Falcons season is falling apart. I don't see the two time defending champions coming anywhere near the playoffs and the only thing looking good for them in 2010 is having a very early pick because Turner and Westbrook will be just another year older coming off disappointing seasons My projected keepers for him in 2010 are Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, and Anquan Boldin, giving him a rising stud at QB but not much else, but with a good draft and some sheer moves in 2010 they could get back to contenders but barring some miracle your '07,'08 champs will miss the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

The Heels and Rayz are the last of our undefeated franchises, now I am very impressed by their 3-0 starts and I think both should be playoff bound I will say this I don't see either coming home with the title though and that's plenty biased (what do you expect) but the Heels lack a legit halfback no GFFL Champion or runner up for that matter has not had an at least top 10 fantasy back
2008 Carolina Falcons - M.Turner, Ducks - D.Williams
2007 Carolina Falcons - Lynch, U.Gators - Peterson
2006 Unbeaten Gators - Tomlinson, Rockets - Parker
2005 Unbeaten Gators - Tomlinson, Dolphins - Larry Johnson

while the Rayz have Benson currently in the top 10 and I believe he could stay there they are very weak at QB and WR and they'll need to part with some of that stash of draft picks if they want to improve there and try to bring home the title in '09 but if they keep the picks they have a very good shot at being a top competitor next year as well.

Gore goes down

Monday Night games in the air
Mountaineers lead the Carolina Falcons by 6 with Roy Williams still to play for the Falcons.
The Kings are trailing the Weiner Dogz by 5 with Kasay yet to play for the Kings and Witten yet to play for the Dogz.
The Ducks lead the Purple Cobras by 8 with Deangelo Williams yet to play for the Ducks and Marion Barber and Crayton yet to play for the Cobras.

Now let's look back to sunday.

- MJD had a monster week for the Kings but it wasn't enough to keep him from going 0-2-1.
A huge bounce back could be coming though as the Kings have reportedly traded Cutler and Hightower for Brees.

- Gore came out after 1 carry and is rumored to miss the next two weeks which puts the U.Gators in a tight spot pressing forward.

- The Purple Cobras slipped to 0-3 but the last time they started a season 0-4 they came back to make the playoffs and this squad is talented enough when healthy to have similar success.

- The Heels have made it to 3-0 looking like a very strong playoff contender while the Rayz have made it to 3-0 utilizing all sorts of luck (Eagles D, Peyton and Reggie no show while Clark killed, and now he puts up a horrible score but plays the Average Joes who put up the 2nd worst score in league history.) But hey 3-0 is 3-0.

- A week after the leagues all time high score was beaten the lowest all time score was almost taken the Average Joes put up a poultry 35 points 2 shy of the '06 Ducks' 33 points and in '06 there was no flex play.

- The Weiner Dogz pulled off two upsets in a row and remain unbeaten against Dylan life time.

- If the Mountaineers win tonight to get to 3-0 I still say they'll miss the playoffs.

- The Panthers got a huge first win and if the Rayz' luck comes back down to earth this division could be a dog fight between the Panthers, U.Gators, and Rayz.

- The Average Joes playoff hopes may be over, no not because of their 2nd loss, because they dealt Brees as you could see this Sunday when Brees doesn't show up he can put up horrid scores and now Brees won't be showing up for his squad the rest of the season.

Week 3 (Game Outlooks)

4 Dollar reminder

Unbeaten Gators 1-1 VS Panthers 0-2

All time series record Unbeaten Gators 6-1 regular season Unbeaten Gators 2-0 playoffs

The Panthers desperately need to avoid going 0-3, which is a pretty daunting task as they go up against the Unbeaten Gators who looked to be in championship form last weekend. This is a match up of two really good teams both with the potential to put up eye popping points so it comes down to the studs and I like the U.Gators' studs of Peterson, Gore, Ronnie Brown, and Schaub over Wayne, Peyton, Forte, and Gonzalez so I'll take the Unbeaten Gators.

Rayz 2-0 VS Average Joes 1-1

All time series record First meeting

Coming in on an improbable 2-0 start the Rayz look to remain undefeated against a pretty good Average Joes team. The Average Joes have put up big points each week thanks to Brees and he should be able to pass all over the Bills leading to another good point output from the Joes the question is can the Rayz top it? I don't think so Palmer is facing a tough Steelers D, Slaton is yet to get it going leaving the only big play for Tray to be Fred Jackson. While I do think Fred Jackson will have a huge week trying to make the most of his last game without Lynch it won't be enough to win I'll take the Joes.

Ducks 1-1 VS Purple Cobras 0-2

All time series record Purple Cobras 1-0

The Purple Cobras are in serious danger of going 0-3 and with no LT, no Barber, they'll have to rely heavily on Rivers and Andre but I can't see them beating a healthy Ducks' team. While there is still hope for a comeback it won't start Sunday. The Ducks take it to advance to 2-1.

Instant Classics 1-1 VS Heels 2-0

All time series record First meeting

The undefeated Heels face off against last weeks' record breakers Instant Classics. This should be a really close game as Ocho's top runner Chris Johnson is going up against the Jets while the Heel's top players are struggling a bit. I'll take the Heels to barely get to 3-0.

Kings 0-1-1 VS Weiner Dogz 1-1

All time series record Weiner Dogz 2-0

Looking to get back on track the Kings may have a hard time if Randy Moss can't play leaving a chance for a 2nd straight week with a Weiner Dogz upset. With all that into consideration I'll still take the Kings barely.

Carolina Falcons 0-1-1 VS Mountaineers 2-0

All time series record First Meeting

The Mountaineers surprisingly and unbelievably are 2-0 and favored against the defending champs, you know what else may surprise you I see them winning this match up and the Carolina Falcons falling into a bit of a hole.

Week 2 one liners

Turn in MONEY $4 to have a sick championship trophy

East
- Tray couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, 2-0 with both wins coming against strong division rivals, although it could get rocky with Lynch coming back in week 4 Jackson's value will be hurt meaning Slaton better wake up for continued success.

- The Unbeaten Gators look to be in championship form with the leagues top trio of backs as well as the receivers and quarterback coming to form, this U.Gator team is built like the old championship ones starting with a strong runningback core.

- Josh's team looks like a very legit playoff contender led by Fantasy Monster Drew Brees they've put up solid 100 and 90 point outings.

- The Panthers are a solid title contending team on paper but they're now 0-2 coming into their match up with the U.Gators, an 0-3 start wouldn't be insurmountable it'd just put them in a hole as far as the division goes but with this team the wildcard would still be doable.

Central
- 2-0, yet the Heels are currently trying to move Brady and/or Jacobs showing me this team has its sights set on more than just a playoff spot they want to make some noise if they get there.

- The Ducks look to have a lot of competition in the Central if they want to get back to the playoffs Rodgers will have to step it up and she'll have to find a 2nd receiver cause Marshall is not getting it done but I think the Ducks are right on par with the rest of this division it's gonna be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

- Instant Clasics played like a juggernaut in week 2 smashing the points record and as long as CJ plays like a stud this team will be in the hunt for the playoffs and maybe much more.

- Johhny is in a very similar situation to the Panthers except they get to play an easier opponent this week, I still think this team is a playoff caliber team and could challenge for the division.

West
- The Princesses began last year 2-0 only to finish at 4-10, do I think the Mountaineers will face a similar fate, no but I'm still not sold on them as a playoff contender but hey this team has an uncanny amount of luck and is actually favored this week so a 3-0 start would set him up nicely to punch a ticket to the postseason.

- Melissa pulled off a huge and much needed win and now draws the Kings coming off their worst performance in franchise history if they can win here they're gonna be looking good.

- The defending champs looked rough, really rough like maybe this team can't make the playoffs rough and on top of that they get the Mountaineers who everyone seems to have their worst game against, the Falcons can't have that happen to them an 0-1-2 start would put them in a spot they haven't seen since their first year in '05.

- 45 points...the Kings have a lot of questions to answer after that and I don't see how trading the slumping top 5 pick Forte for 30 year old Thomas Jones will help but I do know this its win now for this franchise they can't afford to have a down year this year anything short of a playoff berth is not acceptable for a team that's sold their future for this year.

Forte to Panthers; Heels place Brady and Jacobs on the block

First things first the done deal, the Kings have traded 1st round but slow starting back Matt Forte to the Panthers for Thomas Jones. I think this is a huge win for the Panthers as even though I don't like Forte as much as other top backs he's still a top back. This trade will not be fully executed until Tuesday of course but it is a done deal.

As for the trade block the Heels have placed Tom Brady and Brandon Jacobs on the market willing to sell them separately or as a package if interested you can send him an offer through the league or text him at 906-9193.

CJ puts on a show

- This week's monday night outcome is between the Heels and Ducks, Vinnateri must score 5 more points than Donald Brown for the Ducks to defeat the Heels so this one could go either way.

- Based on GFFL history (Excluding the '05 season) if you start the season 2-0 you have an 83% chance of making the playoffs so that's really good news for the Mountaineers and either the Heels or Ducks.

- If you're team has started 0-2 (Purple Cobras) you have a 40% chance (the only two teams to overcome the 0-2 hole were the '08 Ducks and '07 Titans, Johhny's former team.)

- There has only been one case in GFFL history of two teams starting 0-1-1, the 2006 season in which the 0-1-1 Rockets made the championship while the Ducks missed the playoffs so if this situation is like the past one of these teams will rebound and one won't.

- Chris Johnson was unbelievable in a 45 point outburst, but even without him the Instant Classics would have put up a strong score of 107.

- The Instant Classics broke the '08 Rayz scoring record of 140 by 12 points.

- A disastrous clunker, and one of the worst performances by someone considered a title contender I've ever seen. Which in turn is clouding up where the Kings are legit contenders to win it all.

- Time to worry about Slaton and Forte? Back to back horrid games by both may have both owners panicking but hey it can't get any worse...can it?

- Behind Schaub and Gore the Unbeaten Gators looked like the strong preseason favorites they were speculated to be.

- The Mountaineers have somehow managed two wins while barely putting up any points, they may follow the way of the '08 Princesses and become the second 2-0 starting team of all time to miss the playoffs but hey at this rate who knows 12 games to go a couple more miracles and they'll be one of the 6.

- The W.Dogz pulled off a much needed upset they should be 2-0 but I think if they would have gotten to pick which team they beat out of the Mountaineers and Carolina Falcons they would've picked the Falcons so they gotta be happy especially with the Kings looking very vulnerable heading into their match up things are looking up for the Dogz.

Week 2 (Game outlooks)

Average Joes 1-0 At U.Gators 0-1

All time series record U.Gators 1-0

In the first meeting between these two teams since 2007 when Josh was the Bears, the U.Gators should have no problem bouncing back and getting to 1-1. The Average Joes do have Drew Brees but there's no way he puts up anything like last week and the U.Gators team is just way better top to bottom (besides QB) than this team so barring another bizarre Eagle defense type situation the U.Gators should roll.

Panthers 0-1 At Rayz 1-0

All time series Rayz 1-0

The East Division should get evened up at 1-1 after this game. The Rayz won week 1 over a very good Unbeaten Gator team but as I've harped on before his line up just didn't look that good so unless he has some more magic up his sleeve I can't see him beating the Panthers this week, but who knows stranger things have happened and I'll definitely be rooting for him to put the strong Panthers in an early hole.

Purple Cobras 0-1 At Instant Classics 0-1

All time series 0-0

The very first meeting between these two teams both looking to avoid an 0-2 start. The Purple Cobras may be at a severe disadvantage with the Tomlinson injury not to mention at this point they are only projected 59 points. While Espn's projections aren't anywhere close to being right most of the time you have to think Johhny is gonna have a hard time getting a team that's projected a ridiculously low 59 points to a win. Instant Classics take it.

Heels 1-0 At Ducks 1-0

All time series 0-0

Another first meeting, the Ducks the defending runner up would love to jump out to a 2-0 start especially being that the first two are division games. I'm not so sure it's gonna happen though the new expansion team Heels came into the league with a bang last week and while I think another 95 point game is unrealistic they should be able to get to 2-0.

Weiner Dogz 0-1 At Carolina Falcons 0-0-1

All time series C. Falcons 2-0

Brandon has never loss a game to Melissa...and with the Weiner Dogz coming off a 64 point output there's little reason to believe this week will be the week. Look for the Carolina Falcons to look like the 2 time defending champs they are in a rout of the Dogz.

Mountaineers 1-0 At Kings 0-0-1

All time series 0-0

The Kings should take the division lead with this game, but I don't think it's gonna be as easy as expected the Mountaineers aren't push overs (okay they only scored 65 points last week) if some of their players get hot they could have a sho...I'm not kidding anybody Kings win uncontested.

WEEK 1 Power Rankings Kings take the Throne

After week 3 these power rankings will no longer be done by my opinion but instead by a mathematical equation on this website...but until then its my opinion. I've taken into account the win or loss the team suffered the amount of points and of course still how good I think the team is.

The biggest riser in the rankings was Average Joes who after beating a very good Panther team jumped from 12th to 6th. The biggest faller was Weiner Dogz dropping 5 spots from 7th to 12th.

1. Kings 0-0-1 Last Week VS C.Falcons T 97-97 This Week VS Mountaineers Prv. #2

The Kings team had studs at every position but Quarterback and Tightend and their tie with the 2 time defending champs even with Forte's clunker cemented their spot as a contender this year as well as the number 1 team in the rankings this week. Playing the Mountaineers this week don't look for them to give it up in week 2.

2. Carolina Falcons 0-0-1 Last Week VS Kings T 97-97 This Week VS Weiner Dogz Prv. #3

The 2 time defending champs looked good in their week 1 tie but may have some serious competition for the division with the Kings, but regardless that's not a bad way to start their title defense considering they were without starters Boldin and Lynch. Look for the Carolina Falcons to occupy a spot in the top 5 throughout the year and with a cakewalk game against the Weiner Dogz coming up next week they should be right here again in week 2.

3. Panthers 0-1 Last Week VS A.Joes L 103-101 This Week VS Rayz Prv. #5

This team is truly a contender this year as you saw a strong and balanced point out put from every position. Even though they took the loss that should be one of a few that they will fall to this year. This week they take on the luck of the Rayz who do not have a strong line up but won off a miracle defense last week they should have no problem taking care of business.

4. Unbeaten Gators 0-1 Last Week VS Rayz L 87-80 This Week VS A.Joes Prv. #1

The preseason favorite got beat by a bizzar Eagles D putting up 33 points so they should've won that game. That being said the Unbeaten Gators have the number one player in all of fantasy in Adrian Peterson and a great stable of runningbacks but if the receivers are this bad every week its gonna be hard for them to get in that one spot again let alone compete for a championship. The U.Gators are giving this same line up another week to prove itself at receiver but if they don't make some strides look for the U.Gators to be serious on the trade market. This week barring a huge Brees game again they should get a win but they'll be paying more attention to the receiver play.

5. Heels 1-0 Last Week VS Purple Cobras W 95-60 This Week VS Ducks Prv. #9

I think you'll see the 5-9 range of these rankings fluctuate a lot during this year as none of them look top notch and its tough to determine which ones are playoff contenders and pretenders. Now saying that the Heels did look the best week 1 and look the best on paper with a newly committed owner in Will Essick this team could surprise and be playoff bound this year. This week they face the defending runner up in the Ducks so this will be a good test to see which one of these teams is for real.

6. Average Joes 1-0 Last Week VS Panthers W 103-101 This Week VS U.Gators Prv. #12

Drew Brees is this teams meal ticket...and he's a good meal ticket to have. Although the rest of the Average Joes line up is not top notch when Brees has a big day they are a threat to win and Brees has a lot of big days the question is will he have enough to propel this team to the top 6 this year. Either way the Average Joes have to be happy this is a team some people were expecting to go winless...well thats out of the picture.

7. Rayz 1-0 Last Week VS Unbeaten Gators W 87-80 This Week VS Panthers Prv. #8

Getting a win over the Unbeaten Gators is huge for this team and I know he doesn't care how he got it. The only reason this team isn't ranked higher is well if you take the Eagles D's 33 and put it down to a more reasonable score of 13 (Defenses rarely break the 15 point mark) then they would have put up a dumpster score of 67. Slaton has to pick it up and Pierre Thomas has to get back in the line up (before he loses his job to Bell). The Rayz should get their first loss this week against the Panthers but for a team that prides themselves on the using of the phrase cinderella story what would be more fitting than to pull off another miracle win to start 2-0.

8. Ducks 1-0 Last Week VS Ochocinco W 79-72 This Week VS Heels Prv. #6

The Defending runner up's team didn't look too strong but hey a wins a win. She may have a tougher time reaching the playoffs than once thought unless DeAngelo puts up a top 5 season cause 79 points isn't gonna get it done most weeks. This week is a toss up and a big divisional game as the Heels may be the team they are competing with for the division this year which is shaping up to be a weak Central.

9. Purple Cobras 0-1 Last Week VS Heels L 95-60 This Week VS Ochocinco Prv. #4

A preseason contender pick went out and fell flat on his face mustering only 60 points, LT looks done as a number one back, Andre put up a clunker this team is going to need to get it turned around even if they don't get a win this week they just need to show they are capable of putting some big time points up if they want to get back to that contender status. The game VS Ochocinco is a toss up if they show up but if the Cobras put up another 60 point performance there's no one in the league they can beat.

10. Ochocinco 0-1 Last Week VS Ducks L 79-72 This Week VS Purple Cobras Prv. #11

Instant Classics showed signs of life and if LT continues to slow down it could be a huge blessing to the value of Sproles and this team. If Chris Johnson and Warner can return to form and Ocho looks like the Ocho of old this team could shoot up these rankings and surprise a lot of people. I don't know why I just have a funny feeling they are gonna find a way to get it done and return to the playoffs this year...now if they start out 0-2 that feeling could easily disappear.

11. Mountaineers 1-0 Last Week VS W.Dogz W 65-64 This Week VS Kings Prv. #10

Looked pretty bad last week fortunately they were playing another of this weeks worst in the Weiner Dogz. They should cling to that week one win and not even turn the games on this week cause it'd be a shocker if they knocked off the Kings(the team they helped pad their draft). Look for this team to be picking early in 2010.

12. Weiner Dogz 0-1 Last Week VS Mountaineers L 65-64 This Week VS C.Falcons Prv. #7

If SJAX is that bad throughout this year this team will be THIS bad. The Rams could'nt get a passing game or running game going which spells for a bad hit to SJAX' value. The W.Dogz face a tough team this week and should start out 0-2 then they get the Kings so it may be a bit for this team to get its first win but who knows I've been surprised before...I was this week.

Week 1 team by team one liners

East

- The Average Joes shocked the league by winning over the Panthers, to get to 2-0 he'll have to get through another title contender the Unbeaten Gators if he does that watch out.

- Eagles Defense (33 points) propelled the Rayz to a win he shouldn't have gotten and that could potentially be huge late in the season if he's fighting for a playoff spot.

- The Panthers put up the 2nd most points in the league in a loss to the Average Joes where his team looked strong and balanced.

- The Unbeaten Gators lost their 3rd season opener in four years so they've been down this road before and if the past is any indication a big win streak is to follow (after losing the season opener in '08 went on to win 6 games in a row, in '06 they won 4 in a row after losing the opener)

Central

- Carolina Heels got their first franchise win and looked much better than expected in their 35 point victory over the Purple Cobras.

- Championship hangover, maybe but a sluggish 79 point output was still enough to beat division rival Instant Classics.

- With Chris Johnson only mustering 6 points the Instant Classics lacked a stud performer leading to their mediocre score if CJ doesn't get on track it could be a long year.

- The Purple Cobras looked horrific in their return to the GFFL things should get better, but LT doesn't look like a RB1 anymore.

West

- Mountaineers put up only 65 but got the franchises first win and sit atop the West division standings...this will be the only week you can say that.

- Even with Forte's clunker the Kings were able to tie the defending league champion this could be the year the Kings are finally contenders again.

- The defending champs have to be pleased with a tie even though they were without Boldin and Lynch in their line up, they should be right up with the top of the league again.

- The surprising playoff team from '08 is gonna have a very hard time making it back, this division is LOADED between the Carolina Falcons and Kings who should be in a dog fight and have one of the best division races in GFFL history, and just putting up 64 points isn't gonna do it for the Weiner Dogz, these next two weeks are huge for them playing against the Carolina Falcons and then the Kings they have to prove they can compete with the big boys and can't afford to drop both of those games.

Delhomme has biggest fantasy impact of his career

Before diving into week 1 it's of note that a couple of games could still be realistically decided tonight, now this isn't a place where I'm gonna say if Sproles rushes for 400 yards Ochocinco can beat the Ducks this is for realistic games where the outcome is still very much in the air.

The Unbeaten Gators need the Sandiego Charger Defense (At Oakland) to score 8 more points than Bills runningback Fred Jackson (At New England) to tie and 9 more points to win. So you know I'll be glued to the tv tonight.

The Kings need Randy Moss to total 14 points for a tie with rival Carolina Falcons and 15 for a win. Realistic stat lines that would do it are 80 yards and a score or 90 yards and a score.

So there's a look at tonight's games, now for week 1.

While you can't jump to conclusions just from one week there were plenty of things to look at starting with Jake Delhomme.
- Delhomme has never been much of a fantasy factor until yesterday where he gift wrapped the Eagles D 5 turnovers(6th turnover came from Moore), a couple sacks, two Td's, little points against, and who knows what else totaling to 33 points which is unheard of for a defense. Not only did it affect the Eagles D he also killed the value of Steve Smith and ruined what could've been a stud day from DeAngelo. Thanks to Delhomme the Rayz are currently holding an 8 point lead over the U.Gators to put this in perspective if you replace the Eagles 33 with a good defensive score of 13 the U. Gators would be up by 12. (Jay Cutler thanks Delhomme for taking the spot light off his 4 picks)

- Peterson had an incredible outing rushing for 180 yards and 3 td's and will surely be the anchor of the U.Gators team for years to come. The Kings have to be kicking themselves for dealing away this guy.

- Brees torches the Lions for 36 fantasy points and pulls out a win for the Average Joes a team some were speculating may not be able to win a game all year, well in week 1 they've already for one.

- Thomas Jones looks to have another elite season left which has to make Panthers owner Mike Gibson very happy.

- Some Stud Runningbacks have very dissapointing openers Turner 6 pts. (C.Falcons), Chris Johnson 6 pts. (Ochocinco), Forte 5 pts. (Kings), Jacobs 5 pts. (Heels), Slaton 2 pts. (Rayz).

- Two Stud receivers have bad days too Andre Johnson 3 pts. (P.Cobras), Steve Smith 2 pts. (U.Gators)

- Mike Bell may have done enough to remain the starting runningback in New Orleans, at the very least he's really hurt Pierre Thomas' breakout potential.

- McNabb and A.Gonzalez are the two most significant injuries of the week. The Mountaineers will now turn to Eli Manning at QB for at least a few weeks. While A Gonz may get cut by the Kings.
