Unknown Owner will make their way into the GFFL

The Princesses/Average Joes franchise has never really gotten off the ground in the GFFL. It will come under new ownership for the 3rd time in 3 years. In 2008 they posted a 4-10 record under Rebekah Mattox then in 2009 they posted a 3-11 record under Josh Phillips who resigned and Rebekah Mattox. An unknown owner will assume ownership of this franchise immediately and hopefully will provide stable ownership to this franchise. They will of course be allowed to rename the team. This franchise is actually in pretty good shape for a run in 2011. They have all of their draft picks plus the Kings 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th round picks. So while this year they will probably still struggle, with a good draft in 2011 things could change quickly for this franchise. Some of the people we are currently talking to about it are Phillip Bullock, Michael Vogler, Charlie Moran and sending out feelers else where. As commissioner I will do my best to find a dedicated owner to keep the GFFL being the most NFL like fantasy football experience out there.

Top 10 gffl questions in 2010

1. Can the wiener dog repeat?

The wiener dogz are from the favorites to win gffl bowl VI but don't count them out. The western division isn't too strong I couldn't see the dog getting a wildcard spot their only chance is to win the west. If they can do that and secure the 3 seed they would have a good first round match up and a great chance to make the final four and from there anything can happen. They need the kings to suffer some hard luck and injuries for them to capture the west and even after that winning 3 straight games with this years squad is gonna be a stretch. At the moment I say outside looking in but barely.

2. Stop me if you've heard this before, can the kings finally punch a ticket to the playoffs?

Its been 4 years since the kings entered the gffl playoffs (2005) since that year 11 different gffl franchises have made the playoffs (u.gators, c.falcons, panthers, gators, pack attack, ducks, weiner dogz, rayz, mountaineers, instant classics, titans). Could 2010 finally be the year to reverse the curse? He's got the line up even after some trades to make a serious run and he has the weakest division but then again the kings curse is strong I am however predicting the kings will crack the door and make it to week 15.

3. Can the Rayz beat the gffl bowl hangover?

The 2005 runner up kings failed to make the playoffs in 2006, the 2006 runner up panthers lost in the divisional round in 2007, the 2007 runner up u.gators lost in the divisional round in 2008, the 2008 runner up ducks lost in the divisional round in 2009. Notice the trend no gffl bowl loser has returned to the gffl bowl the following year. I think the rayz have potential to get back but with the vjax mess and a weak flex spot combined with this trend and if you think the u.gators will force the rayz to have to get a wildcard spot it's gonna be a tough road and as the 4 seed could have a match up against the one seed so I'll say the rayz will be repeating the past and falling in the final 4.

4. Who will win the central?

Both the ducks and instant classics are fielding worse teams than they had last year but they're still easily the front runners for the central. I think cj is gonna fall off a good bit but I also think dwill and Fitzgerald will fall off leading to a very competitive fight for the central. My prediction ducks win it cause they have more studs than the instant classics but I do think the instant classics due to cj and good management and lack of great teams in the gffl this year will find a place in the wildcard.

5. Most likely 09 playoff team to not make it back?

Easily the copperheads. The copperheads have some good youth but it seems like they'll be more suited to compete in 2011. Going in their favor though is the weak west but I think they're the 4th best team in that. I'll go on record saying now the copperheads will be nowhere near the playoffs in 2010. In saying that though they'll have a good shot if they manage right to steal the west back in 2011. I will say this no one thought they would make it last year but with some luck they found a way.

Brees on the move

The kings have a reputation for questionable offseason transactions and this year is no different a day after moving shonn green to the u.gators for backups they have moved the top fantasy qb drew brees a long with Pierre Thomas and Tomlinson and a 5th for injury prone running back Steven Jackson coming off back surgery qb2 Matt Ryan and cj spiller the young rookie with upside although he is stuck in a crowded buffalo backfield. If sjax can stay healthy and improve on his touchdown numbers the kings could win this trade but as for now I say the Carolina falcons win by a long shot and the west division just got a lot tighter opening up a chance for the defending champion wiener dogz and the two time champ Carolina falcons to have a shot to win the west division. If everyone stays healthy the kings are still the team to beat in the west it's just not as concrete anymore. Other news around the league the instant classics are openly pursuing a trade and most importantly ducks owner and my mom Pam Gibson is undergoing surgery today so be sure to keep her in your prayers thank you.

Shonn Greene the newest Unbeaten Gator

I love Shonn Greene for this year and selling three of my back ups (Pierre, Aromashadu, Bradshaw and a 5th rounder) was a no brainer. Greene/Charles/Beanie will all see time at the runningback 2 slot and maybe even some flex time. I'm extremely confident at the very least one of these three will emerge as a runningback 1 possibly all three. As for the Kings it wasn't a bad move as they need depth but if Greene plays like I think he will then it turns into a bad move.

GFFL EFFECT: Chris Johnson's contract

Chris Johnson is a beast. A severley underpaid beast with a chance to hold out. I'd say there's currently a 35% chance he holds out just because of how severley underpaid he is. So what is the effect.

Instant Classics - This is an easy one without CJ the Instant Classics are nowhere near a playoff team. They need CJ to not only play but to thrive like last season as there is less talent around him on this years Instant Classics then last year. Without CJ the Classics line up is QB Brady HB Best HB Jacobs Flex Slaton(Maybe) WR Boldin WR Ochocinco TE Daniels definitely not a playoff roster probably top 10 but with CJ they are in the top 6 looking to make another trip to the playoffs. So CJ = playoffs CJ Hold out = lottery pick thats all you need to know about this GFFL EFFECT.

GFFL EFFECT: Vincent Jackson Hold Out

This new thing I'm doing for 2010 is I take some NFL news and do the GFFL EFFECT and explain how I feel it effects the league. So let's start with some huge news the VJAX holdout. Vincent Jackson missed the deadline to sign his tender and he is strongly expected to sit out the first ten games of the season. Reason being he needs 6 games for it to count as a season credit for his contract status thus making him a freeagent in 2011. So how does it effect the Gibson Fantasy Football League

Rayz - The current owner of Vincent Jackson who he selected in the 3rd round is obvioulsy effected the most. The Rayz were counting heavily on him to be their flex play and to allow them to still have two strong receivers even on bye weeks. The original starting line up was good enough to be in the top 2 of the league, but without VJAX the flex options are HB Hardesty, HB R.Bush, HB C.Williams, HB D.Ward, and WR Demar. Thomas none of those are strong options and none of them are week to week starters. Add on to the fact that when R.Moss and Colston are on byes Demar. Thomas the very raw rookie out of Denver is the only replacement currently on the roster. Tray is in some trouble and needs to find a legit WR3 or flex play cause it looks like VJAX will be of little use this season maybe even when he gets back I can't see them using him that much. With this news the Rayz are still a strong team but the Kings may have by passed them for 2nd place. A weak flex spot when facing the top tier teams could be a huge problem for the Rayz especially in the Beast East.

Princesses - The owner of Malcom Floyd who has instantly become a strong WR2 and while the Princesses are still far down the list of teams they have just received a gift. Their widereceiver core of Sidney Rice and Malcom Floyd isn't too bad if she could somehow secure a stronger HB2 this team could really fight for a playoff spot...too bad they have nothing to trade for one and runningbacks are scarce so still cellar dweller just better.

They call me "The Freak"

The Rayz continue to bolster their line up making a golden trade. They have acquired Randy Moss and a 2nd rounder for Mendenhall and a 3rd rounder in a trade with the Purple Cobras. Taylor Ray has put his team in a great position for 2010 to compete with the Unbeaten Gators in the East. The draft isn't until tomorrow but it looks like this years juggernauts have already been decided the Rayz and U.Gators should be two dominant teams this year. As for the Purple Cobras I do like this trade from their side too. It's no secret they are in rebuilding mode and getting a young stud like Mendenhall in place of an old super stud was the right move. In my opinion Jonny should see how the first few weeks go this season and if he's not competing he should look heavily for 2011 but either way Mendenhall is a great addition. The 2010 season is here lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
