Report: Brady to Instant Classics
Nothing is official yet it's supposed to happen at 10 tonight but the Instant Classics and Heels have reached an agreement to trade Brady for Favre and a 2nd round draft choice more on this trade to follow tomorrow
Kings further deplete their 2010 odds
3 Biggest Stories of the Week
So let's start with the Kings, in my opinion they badly screwed up on their last trade with myself, they got a great back in Gore but he won't be able to use him for three weeks (the Kings at 0-2-1 are in no position to wait for three weeks on a player) and after those three weeks pass if Coffee plays well enough which judging by his preseason he will. You may see Singletary go to a Running back by committee due to Gore's past injury proneness and wanting to keep Gore healthy for the playoffs not to mention Coffee can provide some good yardage in his own right. Dylan also received Steve Smith who looks down right putrid and with Delhomme's shaky QB play and the Panther's inability to do anything not to mention Steve looks like he may have lost a step and is in danger of becoming the other Steve Smith.
Now let's look at what he gave up, first off Randy Moss the big chip in this trade who I hope will pay instant dividends for me (he's leading the league in targets and you have to think with Welker back and Brady getting more and more on the same page he could be the number one receiver by years end) and leaves a gaping hole for Dylan at receiver, I received Kevin Smith who I believe may put up comparable stats to Gore when he comes back and I received a 6th round pick which now leaves Dylan with just one pick in the first 6 rounds (a 4th rounder).
I do think the Kings with Brees still have a very good chance of being competitive this year and finding a way to sneak into the playoffs his 2010 becomes even more shot.
Now to another big story in the league the Carolina Falcons who have been incredibly quiet on the trade fronts this year look to be in some serious trouble, barely getting to 1-1-1. Turner looks nothing like he did last year, Boldin is in a now struggling Arizona offense, Roy Williams in a spread the ball around O in Dallas, Westbrooks ailing and the Carolina Falcons season is falling apart. I don't see the two time defending champions coming anywhere near the playoffs and the only thing looking good for them in 2010 is having a very early pick because Turner and Westbrook will be just another year older coming off disappointing seasons My projected keepers for him in 2010 are Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, and Anquan Boldin, giving him a rising stud at QB but not much else, but with a good draft and some sheer moves in 2010 they could get back to contenders but barring some miracle your '07,'08 champs will miss the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
The Heels and Rayz are the last of our undefeated franchises, now I am very impressed by their 3-0 starts and I think both should be playoff bound I will say this I don't see either coming home with the title though and that's plenty biased (what do you expect) but the Heels lack a legit halfback no GFFL Champion or runner up for that matter has not had an at least top 10 fantasy back
2008 Carolina Falcons - M.Turner, Ducks - D.Williams
2007 Carolina Falcons - Lynch, U.Gators - Peterson
2006 Unbeaten Gators - Tomlinson, Rockets - Parker
2005 Unbeaten Gators - Tomlinson, Dolphins - Larry Johnson
while the Rayz have Benson currently in the top 10 and I believe he could stay there they are very weak at QB and WR and they'll need to part with some of that stash of draft picks if they want to improve there and try to bring home the title in '09 but if they keep the picks they have a very good shot at being a top competitor next year as well.

Gore goes down
Monday Night games in the air
Mountaineers lead the Carolina Falcons by 6 with Roy Williams still to play for the Falcons.
The Kings are trailing the Weiner Dogz by 5 with Kasay yet to play for the Kings and Witten yet to play for the Dogz.
The Ducks lead the Purple Cobras by 8 with Deangelo Williams yet to play for the Ducks and Marion Barber and Crayton yet to play for the Cobras.
Now let's look back to sunday.
- MJD had a monster week for the Kings but it wasn't enough to keep him from going 0-2-1.
A huge bounce back could be coming though as the Kings have reportedly traded Cutler and Hightower for Brees.
- Gore came out after 1 carry and is rumored to miss the next two weeks which puts the U.Gators in a tight spot pressing forward.
- The Purple Cobras slipped to 0-3 but the last time they started a season 0-4 they came back to make the playoffs and this squad is talented enough when healthy to have similar success.
- The Heels have made it to 3-0 looking like a very strong playoff contender while the Rayz have made it to 3-0 utilizing all sorts of luck (Eagles D, Peyton and Reggie no show while Clark killed, and now he puts up a horrible score but plays the Average Joes who put up the 2nd worst score in league history.) But hey 3-0 is 3-0.
- A week after the leagues all time high score was beaten the lowest all time score was almost taken the Average Joes put up a poultry 35 points 2 shy of the '06 Ducks' 33 points and in '06 there was no flex play.
- The Weiner Dogz pulled off two upsets in a row and remain unbeaten against Dylan life time.
- If the Mountaineers win tonight to get to 3-0 I still say they'll miss the playoffs.
- The Panthers got a huge first win and if the Rayz' luck comes back down to earth this division could be a dog fight between the Panthers, U.Gators, and Rayz.
- The Average Joes playoff hopes may be over, no not because of their 2nd loss, because they dealt Brees as you could see this Sunday when Brees doesn't show up he can put up horrid scores and now Brees won't be showing up for his squad the rest of the season.

Week 3 (Game Outlooks)
4 Dollar reminder
Unbeaten Gators 1-1 VS Panthers 0-2
All time series record Unbeaten Gators 6-1 regular season Unbeaten Gators 2-0 playoffs
The Panthers desperately need to avoid going 0-3, which is a pretty daunting task as they go up against the Unbeaten Gators who looked to be in championship form last weekend. This is a match up of two really good teams both with the potential to put up eye popping points so it comes down to the studs and I like the U.Gators' studs of Peterson, Gore, Ronnie Brown, and Schaub over Wayne, Peyton, Forte, and Gonzalez so I'll take the Unbeaten Gators.
Rayz 2-0 VS Average Joes 1-1
All time series record First meeting
Coming in on an improbable 2-0 start the Rayz look to remain undefeated against a pretty good Average Joes team. The Average Joes have put up big points each week thanks to Brees and he should be able to pass all over the Bills leading to another good point output from the Joes the question is can the Rayz top it? I don't think so Palmer is facing a tough Steelers D, Slaton is yet to get it going leaving the only big play for Tray to be Fred Jackson. While I do think Fred Jackson will have a huge week trying to make the most of his last game without Lynch it won't be enough to win I'll take the Joes.
Ducks 1-1 VS Purple Cobras 0-2
All time series record Purple Cobras 1-0
The Purple Cobras are in serious danger of going 0-3 and with no LT, no Barber, they'll have to rely heavily on Rivers and Andre but I can't see them beating a healthy Ducks' team. While there is still hope for a comeback it won't start Sunday. The Ducks take it to advance to 2-1.
Instant Classics 1-1 VS Heels 2-0
All time series record First meeting
The undefeated Heels face off against last weeks' record breakers Instant Classics. This should be a really close game as Ocho's top runner Chris Johnson is going up against the Jets while the Heel's top players are struggling a bit. I'll take the Heels to barely get to 3-0.
Kings 0-1-1 VS Weiner Dogz 1-1
All time series record Weiner Dogz 2-0
Looking to get back on track the Kings may have a hard time if Randy Moss can't play leaving a chance for a 2nd straight week with a Weiner Dogz upset. With all that into consideration I'll still take the Kings barely.
Carolina Falcons 0-1-1 VS Mountaineers 2-0
All time series record First Meeting
The Mountaineers surprisingly and unbelievably are 2-0 and favored against the defending champs, you know what else may surprise you I see them winning this match up and the Carolina Falcons falling into a bit of a hole.

Week 2 one liners
Turn in MONEY $4 to have a sick championship trophy
East
- Tray couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, 2-0 with both wins coming against strong division rivals, although it could get rocky with Lynch coming back in week 4 Jackson's value will be hurt meaning Slaton better wake up for continued success.
- The Unbeaten Gators look to be in championship form with the leagues top trio of backs as well as the receivers and quarterback coming to form, this U.Gator team is built like the old championship ones starting with a strong runningback core.
- Josh's team looks like a very legit playoff contender led by Fantasy Monster Drew Brees they've put up solid 100 and 90 point outings.
- The Panthers are a solid title contending team on paper but they're now 0-2 coming into their match up with the U.Gators, an 0-3 start wouldn't be insurmountable it'd just put them in a hole as far as the division goes but with this team the wildcard would still be doable.
Central
- 2-0, yet the Heels are currently trying to move Brady and/or Jacobs showing me this team has its sights set on more than just a playoff spot they want to make some noise if they get there.
- The Ducks look to have a lot of competition in the Central if they want to get back to the playoffs Rodgers will have to step it up and she'll have to find a 2nd receiver cause Marshall is not getting it done but I think the Ducks are right on par with the rest of this division it's gonna be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
- Instant Clasics played like a juggernaut in week 2 smashing the points record and as long as CJ plays like a stud this team will be in the hunt for the playoffs and maybe much more.
- Johhny is in a very similar situation to the Panthers except they get to play an easier opponent this week, I still think this team is a playoff caliber team and could challenge for the division.
West
- The Princesses began last year 2-0 only to finish at 4-10, do I think the Mountaineers will face a similar fate, no but I'm still not sold on them as a playoff contender but hey this team has an uncanny amount of luck and is actually favored this week so a 3-0 start would set him up nicely to punch a ticket to the postseason.
- Melissa pulled off a huge and much needed win and now draws the Kings coming off their worst performance in franchise history if they can win here they're gonna be looking good.
- The defending champs looked rough, really rough like maybe this team can't make the playoffs rough and on top of that they get the Mountaineers who everyone seems to have their worst game against, the Falcons can't have that happen to them an 0-1-2 start would put them in a spot they haven't seen since their first year in '05.
- 45 points...the Kings have a lot of questions to answer after that and I don't see how trading the slumping top 5 pick Forte for 30 year old Thomas Jones will help but I do know this its win now for this franchise they can't afford to have a down year this year anything short of a playoff berth is not acceptable for a team that's sold their future for this year.
East
- Tray couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, 2-0 with both wins coming against strong division rivals, although it could get rocky with Lynch coming back in week 4 Jackson's value will be hurt meaning Slaton better wake up for continued success.

Forte to Panthers; Heels place Brady and Jacobs on the block
First things first the done deal, the Kings have traded 1st round but slow starting back Matt Forte to the Panthers for Thomas Jones. I think this is a huge win for the Panthers as even though I don't like Forte as much as other top backs he's still a top back. This trade will not be fully executed until Tuesday of course but it is a done deal.
As for the trade block the Heels have placed Tom Brady and Brandon Jacobs on the market willing to sell them separately or as a package if interested you can send him an offer through the league or text him at 906-9193.
CJ puts on a show
- This week's monday night outcome is between the Heels and Ducks, Vinnateri must score 5 more points than Donald Brown for the Ducks to defeat the Heels so this one could go either way.
- Based on GFFL history (Excluding the '05 season) if you start the season 2-0 you have an 83% chance of making the playoffs so that's really good news for the Mountaineers and either the Heels or Ducks.
- If you're team has started 0-2 (Purple Cobras) you have a 40% chance (the only two teams to overcome the 0-2 hole were the '08 Ducks and '07 Titans, Johhny's former team.)
- There has only been one case in GFFL history of two teams starting 0-1-1, the 2006 season in which the 0-1-1 Rockets made the championship while the Ducks missed the playoffs so if this situation is like the past one of these teams will rebound and one won't.
- Chris Johnson was unbelievable in a 45 point outburst, but even without him the Instant Classics would have put up a strong score of 107.
- The Instant Classics broke the '08 Rayz scoring record of 140 by 12 points.
- A disastrous clunker, and one of the worst performances by someone considered a title contender I've ever seen. Which in turn is clouding up where the Kings are legit contenders to win it all.
- Time to worry about Slaton and Forte? Back to back horrid games by both may have both owners panicking but hey it can't get any worse...can it?
- Behind Schaub and Gore the Unbeaten Gators looked like the strong preseason favorites they were speculated to be.
- The Mountaineers have somehow managed two wins while barely putting up any points, they may follow the way of the '08 Princesses and become the second 2-0 starting team of all time to miss the playoffs but hey at this rate who knows 12 games to go a couple more miracles and they'll be one of the 6.
- The W.Dogz pulled off a much needed upset they should be 2-0 but I think if they would have gotten to pick which team they beat out of the Mountaineers and Carolina Falcons they would've picked the Falcons so they gotta be happy especially with the Kings looking very vulnerable heading into their match up things are looking up for the Dogz.

Week 2 (Game outlooks)
Average Joes 1-0 At U.Gators 0-1
All time series record U.Gators 1-0
In the first meeting between these two teams since 2007 when Josh was the Bears, the U.Gators should have no problem bouncing back and getting to 1-1. The Average Joes do have Drew Brees but there's no way he puts up anything like last week and the U.Gators team is just way better top to bottom (besides QB) than this team so barring another bizarre Eagle defense type situation the U.Gators should roll.
Panthers 0-1 At Rayz 1-0
All time series Rayz 1-0
The East Division should get evened up at 1-1 after this game. The Rayz won week 1 over a very good Unbeaten Gator team but as I've harped on before his line up just didn't look that good so unless he has some more magic up his sleeve I can't see him beating the Panthers this week, but who knows stranger things have happened and I'll definitely be rooting for him to put the strong Panthers in an early hole.
Purple Cobras 0-1 At Instant Classics 0-1
All time series 0-0
The very first meeting between these two teams both looking to avoid an 0-2 start. The Purple Cobras may be at a severe disadvantage with the Tomlinson injury not to mention at this point they are only projected 59 points. While Espn's projections aren't anywhere close to being right most of the time you have to think Johhny is gonna have a hard time getting a team that's projected a ridiculously low 59 points to a win. Instant Classics take it.
Heels 1-0 At Ducks 1-0
All time series 0-0
Another first meeting, the Ducks the defending runner up would love to jump out to a 2-0 start especially being that the first two are division games. I'm not so sure it's gonna happen though the new expansion team Heels came into the league with a bang last week and while I think another 95 point game is unrealistic they should be able to get to 2-0.
Weiner Dogz 0-1 At Carolina Falcons 0-0-1
All time series C. Falcons 2-0
Brandon has never loss a game to Melissa...and with the Weiner Dogz coming off a 64 point output there's little reason to believe this week will be the week. Look for the Carolina Falcons to look like the 2 time defending champs they are in a rout of the Dogz.
Mountaineers 1-0 At Kings 0-0-1
All time series 0-0
The Kings should take the division lead with this game, but I don't think it's gonna be as easy as expected the Mountaineers aren't push overs (okay they only scored 65 points last week) if some of their players get hot they could have a sho...I'm not kidding anybody Kings win uncontested.

WEEK 1 Power Rankings Kings take the Throne
After week 3 these power rankings will no longer be done by my opinion but instead by a mathematical equation on this website...but until then its my opinion. I've taken into account the win or loss the team suffered the amount of points and of course still how good I think the team is.
The biggest riser in the rankings was Average Joes who after beating a very good Panther team jumped from 12th to 6th. The biggest faller was Weiner Dogz dropping 5 spots from 7th to 12th.
1. Kings 0-0-1 Last Week VS C.Falcons T 97-97 This Week VS Mountaineers Prv. #2
The Kings team had studs at every position but Quarterback and Tightend and their tie with the 2 time defending champs even with Forte's clunker cemented their spot as a contender this year as well as the number 1 team in the rankings this week. Playing the Mountaineers this week don't look for them to give it up in week 2.
2. Carolina Falcons 0-0-1 Last Week VS Kings T 97-97 This Week VS Weiner Dogz Prv. #3
The 2 time defending champs looked good in their week 1 tie but may have some serious competition for the division with the Kings, but regardless that's not a bad way to start their title defense considering they were without starters Boldin and Lynch. Look for the Carolina Falcons to occupy a spot in the top 5 throughout the year and with a cakewalk game against the Weiner Dogz coming up next week they should be right here again in week 2.
3. Panthers 0-1 Last Week VS A.Joes L 103-101 This Week VS Rayz Prv. #5
This team is truly a contender this year as you saw a strong and balanced point out put from every position. Even though they took the loss that should be one of a few that they will fall to this year. This week they take on the luck of the Rayz who do not have a strong line up but won off a miracle defense last week they should have no problem taking care of business.
4. Unbeaten Gators 0-1 Last Week VS Rayz L 87-80 This Week VS A.Joes Prv. #1
The preseason favorite got beat by a bizzar Eagles D putting up 33 points so they should've won that game. That being said the Unbeaten Gators have the number one player in all of fantasy in Adrian Peterson and a great stable of runningbacks but if the receivers are this bad every week its gonna be hard for them to get in that one spot again let alone compete for a championship. The U.Gators are giving this same line up another week to prove itself at receiver but if they don't make some strides look for the U.Gators to be serious on the trade market. This week barring a huge Brees game again they should get a win but they'll be paying more attention to the receiver play.
5. Heels 1-0 Last Week VS Purple Cobras W 95-60 This Week VS Ducks Prv. #9
I think you'll see the 5-9 range of these rankings fluctuate a lot during this year as none of them look top notch and its tough to determine which ones are playoff contenders and pretenders. Now saying that the Heels did look the best week 1 and look the best on paper with a newly committed owner in Will Essick this team could surprise and be playoff bound this year. This week they face the defending runner up in the Ducks so this will be a good test to see which one of these teams is for real.
6. Average Joes 1-0 Last Week VS Panthers W 103-101 This Week VS U.Gators Prv. #12
Drew Brees is this teams meal ticket...and he's a good meal ticket to have. Although the rest of the Average Joes line up is not top notch when Brees has a big day they are a threat to win and Brees has a lot of big days the question is will he have enough to propel this team to the top 6 this year. Either way the Average Joes have to be happy this is a team some people were expecting to go winless...well thats out of the picture.
7. Rayz 1-0 Last Week VS Unbeaten Gators W 87-80 This Week VS Panthers Prv. #8
Getting a win over the Unbeaten Gators is huge for this team and I know he doesn't care how he got it. The only reason this team isn't ranked higher is well if you take the Eagles D's 33 and put it down to a more reasonable score of 13 (Defenses rarely break the 15 point mark) then they would have put up a dumpster score of 67. Slaton has to pick it up and Pierre Thomas has to get back in the line up (before he loses his job to Bell). The Rayz should get their first loss this week against the Panthers but for a team that prides themselves on the using of the phrase cinderella story what would be more fitting than to pull off another miracle win to start 2-0.
8. Ducks 1-0 Last Week VS Ochocinco W 79-72 This Week VS Heels Prv. #6
The Defending runner up's team didn't look too strong but hey a wins a win. She may have a tougher time reaching the playoffs than once thought unless DeAngelo puts up a top 5 season cause 79 points isn't gonna get it done most weeks. This week is a toss up and a big divisional game as the Heels may be the team they are competing with for the division this year which is shaping up to be a weak Central.
9. Purple Cobras 0-1 Last Week VS Heels L 95-60 This Week VS Ochocinco Prv. #4
A preseason contender pick went out and fell flat on his face mustering only 60 points, LT looks done as a number one back, Andre put up a clunker this team is going to need to get it turned around even if they don't get a win this week they just need to show they are capable of putting some big time points up if they want to get back to that contender status. The game VS Ochocinco is a toss up if they show up but if the Cobras put up another 60 point performance there's no one in the league they can beat.
10. Ochocinco 0-1 Last Week VS Ducks L 79-72 This Week VS Purple Cobras Prv. #11
Instant Classics showed signs of life and if LT continues to slow down it could be a huge blessing to the value of Sproles and this team. If Chris Johnson and Warner can return to form and Ocho looks like the Ocho of old this team could shoot up these rankings and surprise a lot of people. I don't know why I just have a funny feeling they are gonna find a way to get it done and return to the playoffs this year...now if they start out 0-2 that feeling could easily disappear.
11. Mountaineers 1-0 Last Week VS W.Dogz W 65-64 This Week VS Kings Prv. #10
Looked pretty bad last week fortunately they were playing another of this weeks worst in the Weiner Dogz. They should cling to that week one win and not even turn the games on this week cause it'd be a shocker if they knocked off the Kings(the team they helped pad their draft). Look for this team to be picking early in 2010.
12. Weiner Dogz 0-1 Last Week VS Mountaineers L 65-64 This Week VS C.Falcons Prv. #7
If SJAX is that bad throughout this year this team will be THIS bad. The Rams could'nt get a passing game or running game going which spells for a bad hit to SJAX' value. The W.Dogz face a tough team this week and should start out 0-2 then they get the Kings so it may be a bit for this team to get its first win but who knows I've been surprised before...I was this week.

Week 1 team by team one liners
East
- The Average Joes shocked the league by winning over the Panthers, to get to 2-0 he'll have to get through another title contender the Unbeaten Gators if he does that watch out.
- Eagles Defense (33 points) propelled the Rayz to a win he shouldn't have gotten and that could potentially be huge late in the season if he's fighting for a playoff spot.
- The Panthers put up the 2nd most points in the league in a loss to the Average Joes where his team looked strong and balanced.
- The Unbeaten Gators lost their 3rd season opener in four years so they've been down this road before and if the past is any indication a big win streak is to follow (after losing the season opener in '08 went on to win 6 games in a row, in '06 they won 4 in a row after losing the opener)
Central
- Carolina Heels got their first franchise win and looked much better than expected in their 35 point victory over the Purple Cobras.
- Championship hangover, maybe but a sluggish 79 point output was still enough to beat division rival Instant Classics.
- With Chris Johnson only mustering 6 points the Instant Classics lacked a stud performer leading to their mediocre score if CJ doesn't get on track it could be a long year.
- The Purple Cobras looked horrific in their return to the GFFL things should get better, but LT doesn't look like a RB1 anymore.
West
- Mountaineers put up only 65 but got the franchises first win and sit atop the West division standings...this will be the only week you can say that.
- Even with Forte's clunker the Kings were able to tie the defending league champion this could be the year the Kings are finally contenders again.
- The defending champs have to be pleased with a tie even though they were without Boldin and Lynch in their line up, they should be right up with the top of the league again.
- The surprising playoff team from '08 is gonna have a very hard time making it back, this division is LOADED between the Carolina Falcons and Kings who should be in a dog fight and have one of the best division races in GFFL history, and just putting up 64 points isn't gonna do it for the Weiner Dogz, these next two weeks are huge for them playing against the Carolina Falcons and then the Kings they have to prove they can compete with the big boys and can't afford to drop both of those games.

Delhomme has biggest fantasy impact of his career
Before diving into week 1 it's of note that a couple of games could still be realistically decided tonight, now this isn't a place where I'm gonna say if Sproles rushes for 400 yards Ochocinco can beat the Ducks this is for realistic games where the outcome is still very much in the air.
The Unbeaten Gators need the Sandiego Charger Defense (At Oakland) to score 8 more points than Bills runningback Fred Jackson (At New England) to tie and 9 more points to win. So you know I'll be glued to the tv tonight.
The Kings need Randy Moss to total 14 points for a tie with rival Carolina Falcons and 15 for a win. Realistic stat lines that would do it are 80 yards and a score or 90 yards and a score.
So there's a look at tonight's games, now for week 1.
While you can't jump to conclusions just from one week there were plenty of things to look at starting with Jake Delhomme.
- Delhomme has never been much of a fantasy factor until yesterday where he gift wrapped the Eagles D 5 turnovers(6th turnover came from Moore), a couple sacks, two Td's, little points against, and who knows what else totaling to 33 points which is unheard of for a defense. Not only did it affect the Eagles D he also killed the value of Steve Smith and ruined what could've been a stud day from DeAngelo. Thanks to Delhomme the Rayz are currently holding an 8 point lead over the U.Gators to put this in perspective if you replace the Eagles 33 with a good defensive score of 13 the U. Gators would be up by 12. (Jay Cutler thanks Delhomme for taking the spot light off his 4 picks)
- Peterson had an incredible outing rushing for 180 yards and 3 td's and will surely be the anchor of the U.Gators team for years to come. The Kings have to be kicking themselves for dealing away this guy.
- Brees torches the Lions for 36 fantasy points and pulls out a win for the Average Joes a team some were speculating may not be able to win a game all year, well in week 1 they've already for one.
- Thomas Jones looks to have another elite season left which has to make Panthers owner Mike Gibson very happy.
- Some Stud Runningbacks have very dissapointing openers Turner 6 pts. (C.Falcons), Chris Johnson 6 pts. (Ochocinco), Forte 5 pts. (Kings), Jacobs 5 pts. (Heels), Slaton 2 pts. (Rayz).
- Two Stud receivers have bad days too Andre Johnson 3 pts. (P.Cobras), Steve Smith 2 pts. (U.Gators)
- Mike Bell may have done enough to remain the starting runningback in New Orleans, at the very least he's really hurt Pierre Thomas' breakout potential.
- McNabb and A.Gonzalez are the two most significant injuries of the week. The Mountaineers will now turn to Eli Manning at QB for at least a few weeks. While A Gonz may get cut by the Kings.

SUPERBOWL XLIV
My Picks NFC PLAYOFFS
My Picks AFC PLAYOFFS

My Picks (NFC SOUTH and AFC SOUTH)
Can Carolina bounce back from Jake's disaster?
NFC SOUTH
1. New Orleans Saints 12-4 - The Saints offense will be incredible this year with an actual running game, Reggie Bush, Shockey, and Colston healthy. They should be one of the best teams in the NFC and have a shot at making a serious playoff run if the defense can just be average.
2. Atlanta Falcons 10-6 (WC) - They should continue to have success with Ryan entering year 2 with a new target in Tony Gonzalez and Michael Turner still churning up yards. I don't think they have enough to win the division but games between the Falcons and Saints have the potential to be must see shootouts. Once the Falcons get into the playoffs they could go on a run with that strong running game and Matt Ryan having playoff experience already.
3. Carolina Panthers 7-9 - The Panthers have too many holes on D with the loss of Keomautu so they should be taking a step backwards and miss the playoffs. If the Panthers had more stable quarterback play their offense could join the Saints and Falcons juggernaut offenses but they don't they have Jake Delhomme which will keep the offense staying on the brink of being something special. With that ground game and a breakout receiver they should have a truly amazing offense but instead are held back by shoddy qb play.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4-12 - That melt down last year will feel like the good old days compared to Raheem Morris' Buccaneer team. Quarterback is iffy the line if iffy the receivers are iffy outside of Antonio Bryant and the offense is a lot more sure than the defense. Tampa should be a walking mat for the rest of the NFC.
Will the Titans get replaced by another new division winner?
AFC SOUTH
1. Houston Texans 10-6 - I'm buying into the hype on the Texans. The offense if Schaub stays healthy should be sick and the defense is improving. Look for the Texans to make their first playoff appearance in franchise history.
2. Indianapolis Colts 10-6 (WC) - Peyton Manning will keep this team in the playoffs regardless of the coach. This may look a little different than the Colts were used to seeing but I'm confident they'll fine their way into the playoffs.
3. Tennessee Titans 8-8 - Their '08 season was very fluke natured imo and I believe the loss of Haynesworth will hurt the run D and Chris Johnson may be in for a sophomore slump. Don't expect the Titans to pick up where they left off.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars 7-9 - The Jags should be alright this year nothing great but just average. The big story will be if Jones-Drew can handle a full workload as well as if Holt has anything left to contribute to this offense.

My picks (NFC WEST and AFC WEST)
Can the Cardinals build on last years success?
NFC WEST
1. Seattle Seahawks 11-5 - The addition of Housh not such a big deal but a healthy Hasselbeck, defense, and offensive line should lead this team back to the playoffs in a weak division. Mora Jr. will continue mostly what Holmgren has done in the past running the westcoast and should make it back to the top of the division.
2. Sanfrancisco 49ers 8-8 - Singletary will preach smashmouth football and he should have a very good run game led by Gore I just don't think the defense is up to snuff yet. The decision Singletary makes on a qb (Alex Smith or Shaun Hill) will effect their season greatly, if they can get some stability at the position they could challenge for the division but if they continue to flip flop at the most important position at football 8-8 would be an accomplishment.
3. Arizona Cardinals 6-10 - How the mighty have fallen. Superbowl hangover? Madden Curse? Warner is 38 this year coming off his first season starting 16 games and I don't see him doing it again thus the drop off in record. Leinart is not ready to be the starting QB and I doubt he'll ever be, if Warner does go down Fitzgerald's stats will take the biggest hit and the offense can't afford to slow down because it has to make up for the defense's shortcomings. Bottom line back to the old Cardinals.
4. St. Louis Rams 5-11 - A long way from being competitive...SJAX and Avery are bright spots but without a top notch QB and a weak defense there's no way they pull an '08 Dolphins and get in.
Will the Charger's postseason look like this again?
AFC WEST
1. Chargers 11-5 - This is San Diego's last chance the window is closing and I think they know it. They should have no problem punching their ticket to the dance in this division. With a healthy LT and the emergence of Sproles look for the offense to go back to a more balanced attack rather than the aerial show we saw last year. The return of Merriman could be huge for the defense.
2. Raiders 8-8 - Russel or Garcia it doesn't matter the Chiefs and Broncos are dreadful and the Raiders rushing attack of McFadden, Bush, and Fargas combined with an improving defense should have no problem grabbing 2nd in the West.
3. Chiefs 4-12 - Cassel is not a franchise QB they would have been better off staying with Thigpen and focusing on improving the weapons around him. The offense now has only one weapon (who's been average so far in his career) Bowe and no one to take the coverage away from him. They just recently fired their offensive coordinator which can't be good the D is in shambles I don't know how you could expect much out of them this year.
4. Broncos 2-14 - Recipe to a disastrous season Lose your franchise QB check, anger your probowl receiver resulting in a suspension check, barely improve your horrid D check hire a man child as your headcoach to replace a two time superbowl winning headcoach check the list goes on but bottom line the Broncos won't be any good with neckbeard Orton.

My Picks (NFC EAST and AFC EAST)
Today I turn to the east could Dallas christen its new stadium with some playoff success?
NFC EAST
1. Dallas Cowboys 10-6 - A lot of change and while I don't agree with the release of TO if it helps Romo relax and spread the ball around and give Dallas a renewed reliance on the run you could see the Boys back in the playoffs. You have to remember this is basically the same team that went 13-3 but no TO and replacing the ineffective Julius Jones with Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. The Boys aren't back but America's team will be in the playoffs.
2. Philadelphia Eagles 9-7 - Until the Vick signing the Eagles were my favorite for the East, but now I think the fans and the media will create a huge controversy over McNabb and Vick , that combined with no Dawkins and a limited Westbrook leading to a subpar season.
3. New York Giants 9-7 - No number one widereceiver for their average QB in Eli Manning should lead to a stagnant offense to go along with an amazing defense leading to an average season.
4. Washington Redskins 8-8 - Huge (physically at least) addition in the 100 million dollar man Albert Haynesworth but same old Skins. Campbell has not shown strides in preseason and I don't see him and the aging Portis leading this offense or this team to anything but mediocre.
AFC EAST
1. New England Patriots 11-5 - Guess whos back,back,back...back again?(slim shady is football) The Pats and Brady are back just don't expect it to feel too much like '07. The offensive line is putrid and I don't care if Brady is back 100% he may not have the time to pass the deep ball to Moss and with Welker dealing with an injury the offense could have some issues to go along with an aging defense full of issues the Jets could give the Pats a serious run for their money this year.
2. New York Jets 10-6 (WC) - Look for this team to be Baltimore lite, Rex Ryan the former defensive coordinator for the Ravens stole some key Ravens (Bart Scott, Jim Leonarhd, ect.) and has the talent to have a nasty defense to go along with his run heavy offense. With Sanchez a rookie QB leading the way (Flacco'08) the Jets will get in the playoffs and should push the Pats, if you're a Jets fan you have to love the direction the franchise is going in following in Baltimore's footsteps.
3. Buffalo Bills 7-9 - TO put them in the news but there's no shot he puts them in the playoffs Trent Edwards is not Romo,McNabb, or even Garcia. It should be a more fun year for Buffalo fans than they're use to but it won't translate into too many wins.
4. Miami Dolphins 6-10 - Chad will be the starting QB at some point...Henne that is. Pennington's days as Miami's QB are numbered and with a bad start should let go of the top spot to Henne. Miami is just not that talented of a team and it's a wonder they made it into the playoffs last year. Don't look for the success to continue in '09.

My NFL Season Picks (NFC North and AFC North)
Unrelated to the GFFL but I thought with time to kill between now and the 8 days I'd post my NFL Season Picks 2 divisions at a time then post how I think the playoffs will come out this 2009 season. Wildcard teams are marked by (WC).
NFC NORTH
1. Minnesota Vikings 12-4 - The trendy pick here but with very good reason, a top 5 defense paired with an offense centered around the most exciting player in the game Adrian Peterson, and add to that a new toy in Percy Harvin who has the speed and elusiveness to contribute right away in the NFL making the offense one of the top units in the league. Of course one of the most talked about stories in the offseason has to be mentioned, Favre should improve this team providing veteran leadership and an aerial attack capable of keeping D's honest against the run. As long as Favre plays within himself and becomes more of a game manager (think Elway '98 and '99 when Terrell Davis was running the show) rather than going into gun slinger mode this team could be very special.
2. Chicago Bears 10-6 (WC) - Insert the first franchise quarterback the Bears have had since some guy named Sid Luckman add to it a defense that was superbowl caliber only a few years ago and you should have a solid wildcard team. The only question is has the defense slowed down and aged too much to be a top tier team with the addition of Cutler. I think it has some as Urlacher is of course no longer the player he used to be, but I think the new improved offense should lead to a very balanced and competitive team in the NFC.
3. Greenbay Packers 7-9 - Switching to a 3-4 defense can't do anything but help a defensive unit that was subpar last year. Aaron Rodgers and the offense were very efficient through the air last year and have looked great so far in the preseason if the defense can improve they should be very competitive but I can't see them winning the division this year and see them missing out on being playoff caliber for at least another year.
4. Detroit Lions - 0-16 last year...With the changes made this offseason the offense should make some serious strides and at best with a whole lot of luck could surprise like the Falcons of '08...but I don't see it happening. A great base in Detroit on offense (Stafford, K.Smith, Calvin, and Pettigrew) should give fans a lot to be excited about and could become a very prolific unit in the near future. So good things to come from the Lions they'll just have to wait a bit.
AFC NORTH
1. Baltimore Ravens 12-4 - An amazing defense that had Dolphins' fans wondering why they were even in the playoffs last year now has an offense that is catching up with it. Flacco has looked very good in preseason as well as Ray Rice leading me to believe this team is ready to overtake the Steelers for the North division crown.
2. Cincinatti Bengals 9-7 - A gut feeling here I believe the Bengals will have a very good season while the Steelers suffer through a superbowl hangover. They will come close but barely miss out on the playoffs but it will be enough to win back the Bengals' faithful.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers 7-9 - The coach seems to be ready to repeat I just question if the players are, I'm looking at you Roethlisberger. The offensive line is a mess and it's a wonder they were able to succeed in spite of it last year but I don't see them getting past it in '09. Look for the Steelers to take a step backwards.
4. Cleveland Browns 6-10 - Anderson or Quinn maybe even Ratliff? It doesn't matter this team is not playoff bound and the 6-10 record I'm giving them is generous.
