Kurt Warner Retires

Possible Hall of Famer Kurt Warner has announced his retirement. The superstar QB who came out of nowhere as well as the man who cost me a ride to GFFL BOWL IV when I came up 17 points short of beating the C.Falcons in the divisional round due to Warner (1pt) and Andre (1pt). His retirement hurts the Ducks (Fitzgerald) possibly immensely as I believe Whisenhunt goes to a more conservative attack and Leinart won't be able to get the ball to Fitz like Warner could. Fitz is still a top 10 receiver but I think Andre3000 is now leaps and bounds ahead of him.

Kurt Warner was a great fantasy QB1 during most of his career(excluding late st. louis, and NYG) and he will certainly be missed in the GFFL and NFL.

Matt Leinart becomes an intriguing prospect with the weaponery around him but I say he's a QB2.

Keeper Updates (Warner, Favre possible retirements, T.Jones to get released?)

Here's just a recap of what's going on in the league right now and how it help or hurts keepers.

- Warner, Panthers more than likely to retire, doesn't hurt the Panthers not a keeper consideration but it does hurt Fitzgerald's value immensely. Not so much Boldin cause I'm 99% sure he won't be there.

- Favre, Heels if Favre comes back he will definitely be kept by the Heels because they don't really have too many other options, in my opinion he should really consider trading picks for keepers. Sidney Rice's value will suffer a hit for the Princesses. Peterson's value may go up based on a Favre retirement.

- Thomas Jones, Purple Cobras, the man they dealt their 1st and 3rd round picks for may not be back with the Jets this year and has lost his starting job to Shonn Greene. The Purple Cobras will have to wait and see where he goes but the P.Cobras do have an alternative in MSW.

- Tomlinson, Heels will not be back with the Bolts the only place in the league I could see him having value at again is Houston.

- Owens, Instant Classics not a keeper consideration but for our redraft he may shoot up if he lands with a more favorable team than Buffalo.

- Steven Jackson, Weiner Dogz may be charged with assualt and then could be suspended by the league knocking him out of keeper contention for the Dogz it'd be interesting to see where an SJAX missing say 4 or so games would go in our redraft.

- McCoy, U.Gators as touched on earlier his value has skyrocketed due to Westbrook retirement talks.

- Ray Rice, U.Gators McGahee probably gone from Baltimore just continues to up Rice's stock.

- Wes Welker, W.Dogz not a keeper consideration any more and his 2010 season is very much in jeopardy as with SjAX itd be interesting to see where half a season of Welker would go in our draft my guess not high.

- Brandon Marshall, Ducks very good chance he's gone would a new spot put his value considerably over Calvin Johnson.

- Mike Vick, Kings not a keeper at all but a definitely will be on a new team and may have QB2 value in 2010.

- CJ Spiller, FA if Spiller somehow lands with San Diego in April's draft his value would go to possible top 3 pick in our redraft.

GFFL Schedule Change

Next year the playoffs will move to week 14,15,and 16 due to the increase of players sitting out week 17 I feel this is a needed move.

If anybody has any suggestions let me know for the 2010 season this is the time to start throwing ideas around and get stuff voted on and implemented.

With me being in college next year and hopefully having more free time the GFFLTV may start with weekly wrap up shows and possibly a live webcast on trade deadline day.

Any ideas text me

Princesses make a great move

The Princesses made a huge move in trying to make sure the 2010 season is nothing like the franchise's 2008 and 2009 seasons. Acquiring Sidney Rice for only a 4th round pick was an absolute steal. While the Purple Cobras weren't gonna keep him anyway I'm sure they could've gotten at least a 2nd for him but it isn't a bad trade considering they moved an asset they couldn't keep regardless.

The Princesses are in a lot better shape now going into the draft with Brees, Moreno, and Sidney Rice instead of Ronnie Brown(29 years old coming off Lisfranc). They're gonna have to make the most out of their 2nd round draft pick though but I think they are setting themselves up for a good shot at making a run at the franchise's first playoff appearance. Heck if the Princesses get it turned around, the Panthers put it all together, the Rayz keep it going and the U.Gators make their 6th consecutive playoff appearance then the East could get all 3 wildcards. Not saying its gonna happen but the East does look a heck of a lot stronger than any other division right now.

Lesean McCoy sees value spike? Westbrook 2.0?

With Westbrook considering retirement and he will certainly not be back with the Eagles, McCoy's value has skyrocketed and he is in the position to follow in Westbrook's footsteps and have the same type of career. Lesean McCoy in that offense could possibly be a top 10 back maybe even sneak into the top 5. McCoy's situation reminds me a lot of Ray Rice and for those of you short on keepers or even just wanting a better keeper it would be smart for you to try to deal for McCoy. I'm more than willing to listen to offers cause my 3 keepers are set.

Some teams that I think should be interested in acquiring McCoy

Heels - LT is done, Kevin Smith is coming off an ACL tear(early rumors have the Lions drafting another runningback) he could definitely use a franchise back in Lesean McCoy.

Princesses - Brees and Moreno are a great start but with Ronnie Brown going to be 29 and coming off Lisfranc injury it would definitely be a smart move to acquire a young back to pair with Moreno.

Carolina Falcons - Desperately need a 3rd keeper, it would help a lot to acquire McCoy and avoid having to keep 2 qb's.

Mountaineers - a possible landing spot?

Jamaal Charles to Kings for 1.08

The Kings dealt their 1st round pick (8th overall) to the Ducks for Kansas City Chief break out player Jamaal Charles. Dylan's new keepers are now MJD, Charles, and J.Harrison. This was a great deal for the Ducks bolstering their draft and getting rid of a possible one year wonder canidate in Charles.

If Charles can continue to get it done in a Chris Johnson style fashion then this will be a great deal for the Kings however I don't think that will be the case.

Updated 2010 First Mock Draft

Probable Keepers
UG - HB Peterson, HB R.Rice, WR A.Johnson
Ray- QB Rivers, HB Benson, WR Colston
Panth- QB P.Manning, WR Wayne, WR D.Jackson
Princ- QB Brees, HB Moreno, WR S.Rice

D- QB Rodgers, HB D.Williams, WR Fitzgerald
IC- HB C.Johnson, WR V.Jackson, QB Brady
PC- QB Schaub, HB T.Jones, WR R.Moss
H- WR S.Smith(NYG), HB Tomlinson, HB K.Smith

M- WR Jennings, QB McNabb, HB Gore
WD- HB JStew, QB Roethlisberger, WR Austin
K- HB MJD, HB Charles, HB B.Wells
CF- HB Turner, QB Romo, QB Ryan

Round 1
1. Carolina Falcons 4-9-1 - HB Steven Jackson...If his legal problems leads to a suspension and he is dropped down here into the redraft he has to be heavily considered for the top pick. Pairing Turner and SJAX gets Brandon closer to getting back to respectability.

2. Unbeaten Gators 8-5-1 - WR Calvin Johnson...Calvin and Marshall are easily the top two receivers in the draft. With Martz seeming destined for Chicago Forte's value spikes in a Marshall Faulk esque way but I still have to go Calvin right now until I know where Marshall lands.

3. Panthers 6-8 - HB Matt Forte...With a strong nucleus at QB and WR getting a strong runningback would go a long way for this team and Matt Forte was a beast in '08 and was serviceable in '09 he is still young and while he doesn't have the most exciting skill set he still has potential to get big numbers in year 2 with Cutler especially if Martz gets the job as offensive coordinator Forte could be used in a Faulk role only problem with that is he could jump into the top 2 picks.

4. Kings 5-8-1 - WR Brandon Marshall..He'll most likely be dominant wherever he goes and there's no way he falls out of the top 5 picks. Marshall is a Monster.

5. U.Gators 8-5-1 - HB Shonn Greene...These top 5 picks are absolutely loaded with talent, Greene was huge in the playoffs and may very well have forced Thomas Jones out of New York Greene is a stud, also tempted to take McCoy or Mendenhall heck if Spiller goes to San Diego.....

6. Heels 7-7 - HB CJ Spiller...A bit of reach maybe? but with the Heels franchise keepers not looking so hot hitting on a stud would turn things around in a hurry and there is no rookie in this years draft with more stud potential than CJ Spiller but is he the next Chris Johnson or the next Reggie Bush or somewhere in between. No one knows but the Heels need a ballsy pick if they want to win now and this my friends would be a ballsy pick.

7. U.Gators 8-5-1 - HB Lesean McCoy...I'd be happy getting Mendenhall, McCoy, or another receiver here but at this time I'd take McCoy as another flex play option and for the fact runningbacks are scarce and extremely valuable. With Westy's retirement I'm extremely excited to see what McCoy can do as the next Westbrook. In '07 Westy had 2,000 all purpose yards and 12 td's skys the limit for McCoy.

8. Ducks 10-4 - WR Steve Smith (Car)...Very attached to Carolina players and Steve Smith looks very primed for a bounce back season.

9. Instant Classics 8-5-1 - HB Rashard Mendenhall...An extremely tough decision with Roddy White and Ochocinco on the board. Mendy is the pick for now though.

10. Unbeaten Gators 8-5-1 - WR Roddy White...Do you take a stud tight end here after having so many picks or do you continue to add stud receivers and Halfbacks? I think you continue to add Receivers and Backs and at this point I think Roddy White is a pretty good pick here in year 3 with Ryan.

11. Rayz 11-3 - WR MSW...not a bad pick. Sims-Walker had some great games but disappeared down the stretch but he does have potential for a break out 2010.

12. Weiner Dogz 9-5 - WR Chad Ochocinco...the defending champion Weiner Dogz likes big names and to make big splashes and Ochocinco is a huge name to pair with Miles Austin and a nice start to a title defense.

That's my current first round mock draft based on what I think would happen not necessarily who I think are the best options so take that for what it's worth enjoy the playoffs today guys.

Extremely Early look at contenders and rebuilders for 2010

The Favorite

1. Unbeaten Gators - Probable Keepers HB A.Peterson, HB R.Rice, WR A.Johnson

With the best keepers and four first round picks the U.Gators have to be the early 2010 favorites. After a loss in the wildcard round in 2009 the U.Gators will look to bounce back and end their 2 year championship hiatus.

Top Contenders

2. Instant Classics - Probable Keepers HB C.Johnson, QB Brady, WR V.Jackson

A very good nucleus and has his 1st and 2nd round picks he should be able to put together a pretty good squad.

3. Weiner Dogz - Probable Keepers HB S.Jackson, HB JSTEW, WR Austin

The defending champions surprisingly have some good keeper options as long as they draft well they should be in good position to defend their title.

Playoff teams

4. Ducks - Probable Keepers QB Rodgers, HB Charles, WR Fitzgerald

Spent a first round pick going for it all this year but should be alright and very close again.

5. Rayz - Probable Keepers QB Rivers, HB Benson, WR Colston

Came up a little short last year but with pretty good keepers and plenty of picks this team should be with the top again.

6. Kings - Probable Keepers HB MJD, HB B.Wells, HB J.Harrison

Not bad keepers especially with two first round picks and the draft being receiver heavy the Kings should assemble a good team again but can they finally make the playoffs.

On the Outside Looking In

7. Panthers - Pronbable Keepers QB P.Manning, WR R.Wayne, WR D.Jackson

With good keepers and a top 3 pick as long as they grab a good runner with that 3rd pick they'll make a run for a spot.

8. Princesses - Probable Keepers QB Brees, HB Moreno, HB R.Brown

Surprisingly high on them for 2010 even without a 1st or 3rd round pick as long as they can nab some receivers in the 2nd and 4th rounds they should be in the running and maybe even get the franchises first playoff appearance.

9. Purple Cobras - Probable Keepers QB Schaub, HB T.Jones, WR R.Moss

Very thin on picks and a little worried Thomas Jones may finally break down but with Schaub and Randy if they can hit on a couple of people in the late rounds they should be competitive.

10. Mountaineers - Probable Keepers QB McNabb, HB Gore, WR Jennings

They're gonna come into 2010 better than they came into '09 and they were able to make the playoffs in '09 so I won't write them off but I wouldn't bet on them making it right now.

Rebuilding

11. Carolina Falcons - HB Turner, QB Romo, HB Lynch

Definitely in rebuilding mode but they do have the first pick in the draft but I think they are another year away from competing again check back in 2011.

12. Heels - HB K.Smith, HB LT, WR S.Smith(NYG)

This franchise goes into 2010 in horrible shape and is easily the worst franchise in the GFFL currently. '09s 7-7 record may be the best record they compile for quite sometime.

The Weiner Dogz are GFFL BOWL Champions

The 2nd year franchise has become only the third team to win the GFFL Championship. In an up and down season for the Weiner Dogz they got hot at the right time rolling through the U.Gators, Ducks, and Rayz on her way to winning the 5th GFFL BOWL. Jonathan Stewart and Big Ben played a huge part in this title and winning the GFFL Title is quite an achievement enjoy it Melissa... Next Question Can You repeat?

Welcome to the offseason guys where we must all get back to work whether trying to build off 2009 success(W.Dogz), reclaiming past glory (U.Gators, C.Falcons), trying to just punch a ticket into the playoffs(Kings, P.Cobras, Princesses, Heels), trying to get back to that title game and win it this time(Ducks, Rayz, Panthers) or trying to take a very good team to its first title game(Instant Classics) or win back to back division titles (Mountaineers).

One thing is for sure the Weiner Dogz have a huge target on their back going into next year and will no longer be taken lightly.

The Offseason is on guys...there will still be posts here to get you through this offseason time including mock drafts 2010 looks trade reviews ect.

One more time your 2009 GFFL Champions Weiner Dogz

Peterson back to the Unbeaten Gators...wow

Unbeaten Gators get: HB Adrian Peterson

Kings Get: HB Beanie Wells and HB Pierre Thomas 1st round(4th overall) and 4th rounder and his 1st,3rd in 2011 back, his 1st,3rd in 2012 back, his 1st and 3rd in 2013 and 1st in 2014 back.

Dylan approached me with this trade so I had to take it and will be going into 2010 with Adrian Peterson Ray Rice and Andre Johnson in addition to four first round picks.

The Kings did a little damage control on their future but now only have one sure fire keeper in MJD and then have Harrison, Beanie, and PT to choose from.

Now I didn't want to have to throw this in there but its like I got Ray Rice and 2 first rounders for Beanie Wells and Pierre Thomas and I'm looking good for a title run in 2010.
