Training Camp Power Rankings

As Vogler proved last year the power rankings don't really mean much of anything but we still like to do them. It seems as though coming into this season the teams in the league can be divided into three distinct tiers. So without further ado and better late than never, here are the first GFFL power rankings of the year.

THE FAVORITES

1. Kings - In a tier by themselves, as they boast a sick core of (Spiller/Forte/CJ1K/AJG/Marshall) with a solid amount of depth. This team is the odds on favorite to be making their 3rd GFFL Bowl trip in 4 years.

CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS

2. Gators - The rise back to prominence is centered around (Trich, Mega, and Jimmy), but the thing that puts this team at the top of this tier is the upside in their depth (Tate, Gordon, Pead, Pierce, B.Brown). Coming off a miserable 2012 season the Gators should return to where they belong as one of the top teams in the league.

3. Copperheads - Adam somehow blew it last year and finished outside of the playoffs. I don't see a similar result in 2013. Led by two sick runners in Charles and McCoy and a solid roster built around them they should have no problem punching a ticket to the dance.

4. Rayz - The Rayz have consistently been a top team for a while now but their good seasons have yet to yield a GFFL Title. After losing in GFFL BOWL VIII the Rayz return another solid line up with a little bit more risk and upside than what they normally bring to the table (example Wilson and Ball).

5. Dream Killers - The Dream Killers inaugural season could very well end with a GFFL BOWL appearance. Boasting a strong runningback tandem (Martin/Ridley) with two solid low end WR1's (Cruz/Andre) and some solid guys throughout the rest of the line up this team should be the favorite in the Central.

THE REST OF THE PACK (Last Wildcard Spot up for grabs)

6. Pirates - The defending champion begins the 2013 season in much the same way they began the 2012 season...being doubted. I will say this though out of this tier this is definitely my favorite team, Brees and Dez have monster point potential and the rest of the roster isn't that bad plus you have to trust that a champion owner will be able to make the tweaks he needs to be right in the thick of things come playoff time.

7. Panthers - In an extremely hard division but they boast top to bottom a very solid line up. They lack a real game breaking stud but this team should be solid and have a shot at being in the dance.

8. Ducks - Newton, Peterson, Gronk. No doubt a sick big three and with a couple of breaks with those three studs, heck the Ducks could see themselves in the title game. However with the Gronk injury news and how porous the rest of this roster is I can't put them any higher than this.

9. Hurricanes - In their first season shocked the world with a postseason appearance, can they build off that in 2013? Yes and No, while I think the team the Hurricanes field in 2013 will be better than their 2012 team I don't think they'll find their way back into the tournament.

10. Nutrients - If there was any year for the Nutrients to finally breakthrough and go to the playoffs this would be the year. Outside of the top 5 teams the rest of the league is mediocre which means with a break here or there the Nutrients could find themselves emerging from this group especially with new franchise back Lynch.

11. Classics - Mortgaged a lot of their draft picks on the 2012 and 2011 seasons which netted them a championship and a playoff berth so you can't fault them for it. Unfortunately that has left them with a below average team when compared to past Classic rosters. The good news is with Brady Foster Harvin and a very top heavy league the Classics could easily navigate their way to the post season yet again.

12. C.Falcons - Not really a fan of much of the Falcons roster and honestly think the days of them competing for playoff spots are long gone. Haas and Buck need to get to work on seriously retooling this roster and its future outlook.
