1. Well that wasn't the performance the LA Gators were expecting when they built this super team. Opening week saw the Gators put up a disappointing 78 pts and nothing was more to blame than the Denver offense led by 100 year old Peyton Manning. The Gators should get back on track after a deal with the Nutrients gives them a Lacy-DMurray-LBell-DT-JMatt-Hilton-Kelce core. One thing is for sure if Peyton lays another egg tomorrow night the Gators will be shopping for a QB.
2. STUB is in a similar situation to the Dallas Cowboys, got the 1-0 start but at a huge cost. I don't know who no Dez Bryant hurts worse, but I do know a Roddy White-Steve Smith receiving duo isn't scaring anyone. They're going to face an uphill climb to stay in the playoff mix this year and it may unfortunately already be time to prep for 2016.
3. Dream Killers pull off the big week 1 upset 78-77 and potentially start a new league rivalry with the Classics. Of course this rivalry is centered around Christian and Miles Watkins-Abdullah no trade this past off season (Watkins finished week 1 with 0 catches and 0 points). Although Miles is smiling right now, the team with the last laugh will be the one holding the Central division crown at the end of the season.
4. Tray says get the best (Julio-Gronk) and forget the rest. If the Rayz can find a way to piece the rest of their line up together they have arguably the top 2 dynasty assets out there, and could be very dangerous.
5. Congratulations to Synergy Express on winning their franchise's first ever game! They won't all be this easy and I still believe this franchise is a lot closer to the bottom than the top but a week 1 win is a nice way to get started.
Week 2 Power Rankings
1. LA Gators (0-1) - LBell/Lacy/DMurray/DT/JMatt...I'm just not ready to move this squad down from #1 yet. Another loss in week 2 would change my mind pretty quickly but for now this still looks like the title game favorite.
2. Copperheads (0-1) - Huge upset for the Oilers to topple the Copperheads, however that may be the only divisional game they lose all year. This squad with the emergence of Hyde is right up there with the Gators as far as starting line up talent. If Adam doesn't make the playoffs I'll eat my hat.
3.Wolf Puppies (1-0) - Desperately need a #2 back, but Charles-ODB-Mega-Cooks is a good enough core 4 where GFFL Bowl talk for the Wolf Puppies is warranted.
4. Instant Classics (0-1) - Not going to overreact to week 1 for the defending champions either. The bottom line for Christian though is he has to get a real running back in there soon, Randle is a low end HB2, Blue is trash, and Foster has an uncertain time table. The rest of the squad is championship caliber without a doubt.
5. Dream Killers (1-0) - Honestly there was a lot of debate for these #4 and #5 slots. A 100% healthy Foster barely edges the Classics over the Dream Killers for me. Miles has a sick team though and the JHill-McCoy combo should run him into the playoffs.
6. Rayz (1-0) - As I said before Julio-Gronk combo and forget the rest. Taylor is a sneaky title pick going off at about 10/1 right now.
HUGE DROP OFF
7. Houston Oilers (1-0) - While I don't love this squad they are the 2nd best team in a very weak division and could find a way to pile up a lot of wins and get into the dance on the back of DHop.
8. Synergy Express (1-0) - Same ideas as Oilers write up but 3rd best team. Really playoffs are a long shot this year but the Lamar Miller-Duke Johnson HB combo for the future could be something solid.
9. Panthers (0-1) - Made some nice moves to get away from Jordy Nelson and Arian Foster injuries, unfortunately the idea of this squad making it to the playoffs out of the East seems like more of a fairy tale than a real possibility.
10. STUB (0-1) - Well when you trade for a WR with a torn acl and then your franchise WR breaks a bone in his foot in week 1, it may not be your year. Vogler is a great owner and his success speaks for itself but I don't think Jon Gruden could get this injury riddled team to the dance. May have to wait until 2016 for the return of the dark side in the playoffs.
11. Nutrients (0-1) - Rebuilding and having a less than stellar season is a lot easier to deal with when you have Todd Gurley, Amari Cooper, Dorial Green-Beckham, and a top 3 pick for 2016.
12. Blazers (0-1) - Rebuilding and having a less than stellar season is a lot harder to deal with withou those guys. Blazers keep stocking picks for 2017 (4 1sts) giving the franchise and its fans hope and a light at the end of the tunnel.
