Sad Day For Gator Nation

Well it's the offseason a lot earlier than normal for the Gators. A storied franchise featuring two GFFL Titles, three GFFL Championship appearances, and 6 consecutive playoff appearances now will be remembered for something completely different, the biggest collapse in GFFL history.

Rewind to the start of the season the Gators coming off a 12-2 season with a roster even better than the previous season were dreaming of chasing perfection.

HB Peterson
HB Charles
HB/WR Mendenhall
WR C.Johnson
WR A.Johnson
TE Graham

A star studded roster that kicked off the season with a 127 point showing faced the Rayz in week 2 losing 116-115 because Jamaal Charles tore his ACL early in the 1st quarter. The first blow to a dream season, but not the dagger as the Gators went on to not score less than 115 in any of their first 5 games. When they ran into the Classics and they underperformed losing 77-71, that's when the Gators pulled the trigger and decided to blow the team up. They won two easy games to pull to 6-2 it looked like the Gators would easily get back into the playoffs for a 7th consecutive season..that's when the collapse started.

Then right before trade deadline they traded the severely underperfoming Shonn Greene for a 2014 2nd to the Pirates.

Shonn Greene scored 75 points in 12 weeks an average of 6.25 points per game then in 2 weeks against the Gators scores 51 points. In week 14 Dez Bryant catches only 1 pass..but it's for a 50 yard touchdown late in the 4th.

It was just not meant to be for the Gators this year as a dream season went up in smoke. This once proud franchise must now start on a rebuilding process and look even farther away frome ending their GFFL BOWL drought.
